ARRIVED AT AZTEC INTXN; ANNOUNCED ON 122.8 (CTAF) POS AND INTENTION TO MAKE VOR DME APCH TO DURANGO RWY 2 VISUALLY (NOT UNDER THE HOOD). PROCEEDED INBOUND. AT ABOUT 10 DME ACFT ANNOUNCED DOWNWIND TO RWY 20 DURANGO. AT QUELL INTXN (7.0 DME AND INITIAL APCH FIX) ANNOUNCED POS AND INTENTION TO MAKE VOR DME APCH TO RWY 2 VISUALLY AND TO TERMINATE APCH WITH MISSED APCH. AT 3.0 DME A METROLINER ANNOUNCED 10 MI N ON FINAL FOR RWY 20. ANNOUNCED MY POS 3.0 DME AND TERMINATION OF THE APCH WITH A MISSED APCH. ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER ANOTHER ACFT CALLED 'CESSNA ON VOR APCH DID YOU NOT SEE ME. I AM 25 FT OFF YOUR R WING.' LOOKED IMMEDIATELY AND COULD SEE NO ACFT IN THAT LOCATION NOR TO MY R REAR. BANKED TO SEE TO THE R AND BELOW BUT STILL COULD SEE NO ACFT. THEN CHKED THE ALTIMETER AND FOUND I WAS AT 7100 FT AND DSNDING. THEN THE MM BEACON CAME ALIVE AND I ANNOUNCED A MISSED APCH AND DID SO. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE METROLINER ANNOUNCED ON A 4 MI FINAL FOR RWY 20 AND I SPOTTED HIM TO MY L AND ABOUT 4 MI. THEN THE OTHER ACFT CALLED THE METROLINER AND RPTED 'THE AIRPLANE THAT JUST MISSED ME IS E OF THE ARPT.' METROLINER REPLIED 'IN ABOUT THE DOWNWIND POS?' OTHER ACFT RPTED AFFIRMATIVE AND THE METROLINER REPLIED 'WE HAVE HIM.' THEN MISSED APCH PROC WAS ABANDONED AND TURNED R (S) TO TRY TO SEE THE OTHER ACFT. HE WAS NOWHERE WITHIN MY VISION. I NEVER DID SEE THAT ACFT; NOR DID HE EVER USE HIS CALL SIGN IN HIS XMISSIONS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE HE CAME FROM OR WHERE HE WAS GOING. IF HE DEPARTED RWY 20 AT DURANGO HE DID NOT RPT THAT PROC ON 122.8. IF HE HAD I WOULD HAVE ABANDONED THE APCH IMMEDIATELY. I HAD THE RWY AT DURANGO IN SIGHT AT ALL TIMES AND I DID NOT SEE HIM ON THAT RWY NOR BTWN MY POS AND THE RWY. I HAD NO IDEA WHERE HE CAME FROM OR WHAT HIS INTENTIONS WERE. IT SEEMS ANOTHER CASE OF THE LACK OF POS RPTING BECOMING A SERIOUS HAZARD AT AN UNCTLED ARPT.
