A WBD COMMERCIAL ACFT WHILE TAXIING TO THE GATE STRUCK A TXWY LIGHT INCURRING DAMAGE TO A MAIN TIRE.

Narrative

FLT # XX ARRIVED AT THE GATE; AND UNLOADED PAX. AN ACR MECH CAME TO COCKPIT AND ASKED IF 'THE CREW NOTICED WHETHER THEY HIT ANYTHING TAXIING INTO THE GATE?' CAPT REPLIED 'NO.' MECH STATED THAT THE 'R TIRE WAS CUT AND THERE WAS A NOTCH MISSING.' CAPT; COPLT AND RELIEF PLT LOOKED AT THE R; FRONT OUTSIDE TIRE WHERE THE NOTCH WAS OBSERVED AS STATED BY THE MECH. OBSERVATION OF THE TIRE SHOWED NO GRASS OR MUD. THERE WAS A LIGHT COVERING OF DUST BUT OTHERWISE THE TIRE WAS CLEAN. ALL 3 CREW STATED THAT THEY DID NOT FEEL OR SEE ANYTHING UNUSUAL DURING THE TAXI. ALL 3 CREW WERE IN THE COCKPIT DURING TAXI. MECH THEN STATED HE WOULD BE CALLING THE GATWICK ARPT AUTH TO CHK THE TXWY FOR ANYTHING UNUSUAL. CREW LEFT FOR CREW REST AT ABC; ENGLAND. ABOUT 3 HRS LATER AT ABOUT XY00 PM LONDON TIME; CAPT GOT A CALL FROM ACR STATION MGR STATING 'ACR XX HAD RUN OVER A TXWY LIGHT AND THE GATWICK ARPT AUTH WOULD BE CHARGING ACR FOR THE TAXI LIGHT.' SHE ASKED THE CAPT WHAT HE KNEW ABOUT IT AND THE CAPT REPLIED THAT AT 'NO TIME DID THE ACFT LEAVE THE TXWY.' OTHER COCKPIT CREW CONFIRMED THIS.
