Narrative
AFTER STARTING THE ENGS; WE TURNED ON THE RADIOS AND BEGAN TO TAXI ON A LARGE NON MOVEMENT AREA BTWN THE HANGARS. ALL FREQS WERE COMBINED ON THE LCL CTLR AND SEVERAL OTHER ACFT CALLED REQUESTING TAXI CLRNC AT THAT TIME. WE BEGAN TO GO THROUGH THE TAXI CHKLIST AS WE TAXIED TOWARD THE MOVEMENT AREA. ALTHOUGH BOTH OF US WERE IN LEGAL FLT/DUTY TIME LIMITS; WE WERE FATIGUED; AND BY THE TIME WE GOT TO THE MOVEMENT AREA WE HAD HEARD SEVERAL INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO OTHER ACFT TO TAXI TO RWY 17L. PERHAPS BECAUSE IT IS OUR PRACTICE TO CALL THE GND/LCL CTLR AS WE BEGIN TO TAXI; AND IT WAS NOW FAR PAST THAT POINT; WE JUST CONTINUED ON TO THE MOVEMENT AREA TAXIING TO RWY 17L AS THOUGH WE HAD BEEN GIVEN CLRNC. WE WERE SOON ASKED BY THE LCL CTLR TO IDENT OURSELVES; AT WHICH POINT WE REALIZED (TO OUR EMBARRASSMENT) OUR ERROR. THERE WERE NO TFC CONFLICTS. I WAS THE PNF. IN MY MIND; FATIGUE WAS THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT. WE ARE A NIGHT FREIGHT COMPANY AND I HAD BEEN ON DUTY FOR 6 1/2 HRS. THE MORNING BEFORE I HAD A 2 HR WAIT FOR MY HOTEL ROOM AND HAD FALLEN ASLEEP IN THE LOBBY. WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO MY ROOM; I HAD SLEPT JUST ENOUGH TO BE AWAKE AND MY SLEEP CYCLE WAS MESSED UP; LEAVING ME QUITE FATIGUED BY THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THIS PROB AT THE HOTEL HAS BEEN ONGOING; AND WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING A NEW PLACE TO STAY.
