Narrative
NOT BEING THAT FAMILIAR WITH TEB; I STUDIED THE DEP FOR RWY 19. I GOT DISTRACTED BEFORE I FINISHED WITH THE DEP PLATE AND NEVER GOT TO RWY 24 DEP. THE PAX ARRIVED EARLY SO I ASKED THE FO TO READ ME THE RWY 24 DEP. I WROTE DOWN KEY ACTION POINTS WHILE TAXIING. AFTER DEP; THE SID REQUIRES RWY HEADING TO 1500 FT THEN R TURN TO 280 DEGS; MAINTAIN 1500 FT UNTIL TEB 4.5 DME; THEN CLB TO 3000 FT. IN THE 'HEAT OF BATTLE;' I GLANCED DOWN AT MY NOTES COMPLETELY MISSING THE TEB 4.5 DME; SO WHEN I REACHED 1500 FT I TURNED TO 280 DEGS BUT CONTINUED MY CLB OUT OF 1500 FT. MY FO WAS DISTRACTED AND WHEN HE NOTICED I WAS CONTINUING THE CLB; HE SAID I SHOULDN'T BE CLBING BUT BY THEN; DEP HAD ALREADY NOTICED I HAD PASSED 2000 FT. HE (DEP) CALLED ME AND I GOT A SHORT TONGUE LASHING. I IMMEDIATELY DSNDED BACK TO 1500 FT AND COMPLIED WITH THE SID. IN RETROSPECT; I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN MORE TIME TO STUDY THE SID PRIOR TO TKOF. HAD I NOT ALLOWED THE PREFLT DISTR; NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. LUCKILY; NO ONE WAS HURT AND NO METAL GOT BENT; ONLY MY PRIDE.
