Narrative

AFTER LNDG ON RWY 18; WE CLRED THE RWY AND TAXIED ONTO TXWY 4. AT THE END OF RWY 18; BEFORE THE ARRESTING GEAR; WE STOPPED JUST BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. WE CLEANED UP THE ACFT; AND CALLED GND CTL FOR TAXI BACK TO THE FLYING CLUB. GND CTL ASKED US OUR POS. WE STATED THAT WE WERE AT THE S END OF RWY 18 ON THE TXWY. GND REPLIED; TAXI TO THE FLYING CLUB; HOLD SHORT OF RWY 29. WE PROCEEDED TO TAXI. AS WE WERE TAXIING; I NOTICED 2 PARKED S3'S TO THE L OF THE TXWY. THERE WERE NOT ANY LIGHTS OPERATING ON THE ACFT (S3'S) AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT (SUCH AS ROTATING BEACON; NAV; ETC) TO INDICATE THAT ENGS MAY BE RUNNING. I NOTICED GND CREWS AT BOTH ACFT; AS WELL AS A TUG; WHICH MADE ME BELIEVE THEY WERE GOING TO TOW THE ACFT (AS HAPPENS OFTEN THERE). WE PROCEEDED TO TAXI PAST THE FIRST S3 WITH NO PROBS. WHEN WE GOT TO THE SECOND S3; OUR AIRPLANE WAS PICKED UP OFF THE GND AND FELL TO THE GND IN A R (NOSE DOWN) ANGLE. AS SOON AS THE ACFT STOPPED MOVING; I REACHED DOWN AND TURNED THE FUEL SELECTOR TO THE 'OFF' POS. I YELLED TO MY STUDENT 'ARE YOU OK?' HE SAID YES; THEN I TOLD HIM TO TURN OFF THE MASTER SWITCH AND IGNITION AND GET OUT OF THE ACFT. WHEN WE EXITED THE ACFT; WE WERE MET BY THE GND CREWS OF BOTH S3'S. 1 WOMAN (FROM THE SECOND CREW) CAME OVER; WHO WAS THE CAPT WE LATER FOUND OUT; AND SAID 'OH; I'M SO SORRY.' SHE LOOKED FRIGHTENED. ANOTHER YOUNG MAN FROM THE FIRST CREW SAID THEY SAW US COMING SO THEY SHUT DOWN THEIR ENGS. WE WERE NOT TOLD BY GND CTL THAT THE S3'S WERE DOING RUN-UPS; ALTHOUGH THEY DID CLR US TO TAXI ON THAT TXWY. THERE ARE NO SIGNS VISIBLE TO US ON THAT TXWY THAT SAY CAUTION JET BLAST. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS OPERATING ON EITHER ACFT THAT WOULD SIGNIFY ENGS RUNNING. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GND CREW POSITIONED AROUND THAT ACFT; ON EACH SIDE AND TO THE REAR TO LET THE CAPT KNOW THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER ACFT ON THE TXWY. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN WARNED IN SOME WAY THAT THE ACFT ENGS WERE RUNNING. WE BOTH WORE HEADSETS SO COULD NOT HEAR THE ENGS RUNNING AT ALL. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTN THAT GND CREW IS SUPPOSED TO SHUT DOWN THEIR ENGS PRIOR TO SOMEONE TAXIING BEHIND THEM; WARN THE TWR; WHO IN TURN COULD WARN US; OR THE GND CREW SHOULD HAVE GIVEN US HAND SIGNALS TO STOP OUR ACFT.
