SF340B LANDS AT ALB WITHOUT BENEFIT OF ATC CLRNC FOR LNDG. PLTS SAY THAT APCH CTLR FAILED TO TURN THEM OVER TO THE TWR.
Narrative
WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 1 AT THE ALB ARPT. APCH CTL DID NOT GIVE US A HDOF TO THE ALB TWR. WE BECAME INVOLVED IN THE COCKPIT CHKLIST AND DIDN'T REALIZE THAT WE HADN'T BEEN SWITCHED TO THE TWR AND DIDN'T HAVE A LNDG CLRNC UNTIL WE HAD LANDED. AFTER LNDG WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE TWR FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO OUR GATE AND THEN REALIZED THAT WE WERE STILL ON APCH CTL. WE THEN CONTACTED GND CTL AND TAXIED TO THE GATE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE PROB WAS OUR FAILURE TO REALIZE WE HAD NOT BEEN SWITCHED TO TWR FREQ BY APCH CTL AND APCH CTL'S FAILURE TO TELL US TO CONTACT TWR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 381582: PULLING OFF THE RWY; THE FO CALLED FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND THE VOICE SAID; 'YOU'RE STILL ON APCH.' WE LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND SAID; 'OH XXXX!' WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO THE RAMP; AND NOTHING MORE WAS SAID TO US. OUR PRESSURIZATION WAS MEL'ED SO I WAS CONCENTRATING VERY HARD ON A SMOOTH GRADUAL DSCNT AS NOT TO BLOODY EVERYONE'S EARS. ALSO; THE GS WAS OTS -- MORE CONCENTRATION. I SUPPOSE WE WERE BOTH WEARY AT THE END OF THE DAY -- LAST LEG. I DID DOUBLECHK THE GEAR AND EVERYTHING (ALMOST) AT 200 FT WHEN I LOOKED AND ASKED THE FO IF EVERYTHING WAS DONE. HE SAID YES. WE JUST MISSED IT. HAD I LOOKED AT OUR NOSEWHEEL SWITCH (WE USE IT TO CONFIRM LNDG CLRNC); I WOULD HAVE SEEN IT IN THE 'OFF' POS. PERHAPS 'LNDG CLRNC CONFIRMED' SHOULD BE ON THE APCH/BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST.
