INSTRUCTOR PLT AND STUDENT GET INTO A SPIN DURING PRACTICED SLOW FLT AT 1500 FT. THEY RECOVER ACFT AT 800 FT AGL. INSTRUCTOR PLT CITES POSSIBLE WAKE TURB.
Narrative
STUDENT AND MYSELF WERE PRACTICING MINIMUM CTLABLE AIRSPD AT 1500 FT AGL; 5 MI SW OF BCT AT APPROX AB30. WHILE PRACTICING MINIMUM CTLABLE AIRSPD; THE ACFT SUDDENLY ROLLED; STALLED; THEN ENTERED A SPIN. IMMEDIATE RECOVERY TECHNIQUES WERE INITIATED AND RECOVERY WAS COMPLETE AT APPROX 800 FT AGL. WE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN A MAX EFFORT CLB TO PREVENT FURTHER ALT LOSS. IT IS BELIEVED THAT WE ENTERED CLR AIR TURB OR WAKE TURB. THE TFC PATTERN ALT FOR TURBOJET AND MULTI ENG ACFT AT BCT IS 1500 FT AGL AND THEREFORE WE MAY HAVE ENCOUNTERED WAKE TURB. WE TYPICALLY PRACTICE MINIMUM CTLABLE AIRSPD AT HIGHER ALTS BUT BECAUSE OF THE PROFICIENCY LEVEL OF BOTH THE STUDENT AND MYSELF WE DID NOT BELIEVE THAT WAS NECESSARY. UPON CONTACTING OUR DEST TWR (FXE) WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO REMAIN OUTSIDE CLASS D AIRSPACE. WE CIRCLED AT 1000 FT AGL FOR APPROX 4 MINS BEFORE BEING ALLOWED INTO THE CLASS D AIRSPACE. IN THE FUTURE I WILL ALWAYS PRACTICE MANEUVERS AT A HIGHER ALT BECAUSE OF THE UNFORECAST HAZARDS AT LOWER ALTS.
