Narrative

FLT LANDED EWR AT PM37 LCL ON RWY 22L AND EXITED RWY ON FIRST HIGH SPD TXWY. TWR TOLD CREW TO TURN L ON TXWY P (PARALLEL TXWY BTWN RWYS 22L AND 22R) AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY N. TFC ON TXWY N CALLED TWR AND SAID THEY COULD NOT GET BY OUR ACFT. TWR THEN TOLD US TO TAXI ONTO TXWY N AND ASKED US IN FUTURE TO HOLD SHORT FURTHER BACK ON TXWY P. WE TURNED R ON TXWY N AND APOLOGIZED FOR NOT HOLDING FURTHER BACK ON TXWY P. WE TAXIED ACROSS RWY 22R AT WHICH TIME CTLR TOLD US 'WE JUST BLEW IT' AND PLEASE CALL THE TWR ON THE PHONE WHEN WE GOT TO OUR RAMP. WHEN TWR TOLD US TO TAXI ONTO TXWY N; I THOUGHT I HEARD HIM SAY 'CROSS RWY 22R' BUT APPARENTLY THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. A HVY JET WAS ON THE ROLL AT THE FAR END OF THE RWY AND TOOK OFF OVER THE TOP OF OUR ACFT MISSING US BY APPROX 200 FT VERTLY. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED IN VMC CONDITIONS AT PM30 LCL TIME. RADIO FREQ IN USE WAS NOT CONGESTED. PLTS WERE A BIT FATIGUED BUT THAT IS NORMAL AT THIS TIME OF DAY. THE ONLY CONTRIBUTING FACTOR I CAN THINK OF IS THAT PREOCCUPATION WITH NOT HOLDING SHORT FAR ENOUGH BACK ON TXWY P AND SLIGHT FATIGUE LED ME TO MISHEAR CTLR WHEN I WAS TOLD TO TAXI ONTO TXWY N AND BELIEVED I HAD BEEN TOLD TO CROSS RWY 22R.
