AN ACR MLG FLC DSNDED TOO LOW XING 'HOLEY.' THE CAPT COPIED AND READ BACK 10000 FT VERSUS 11000 FT WHILE THE FO WAS COPYING THE ATIS.
Narrative
WHILE FO WAS OFF RADIO; ZDC CLRED US TO DSND AND CROSS HOLEY. I BELIEVE I HEARD 10000 FT AND I KNOW I ROGERED BACK 10000 FT. ADDITIONALLY; WE WERE GIVEN 2 SPD REDUCTIONS IN THE DSCNT WHICH MADE THINGS DIFFICULT BECAUSE WE WERE ALREADY BEHIND. DURING THE LATER PART OF THE DSCNT THE FO COMPLETED HIS OFF FREQ DUTIES AND COMPLETED THE IN-RANGE CHKLIST. BEING OCCUPIED WITH XING HOLEY; I FAILED TO INFORM HIM OF THE XING RESTR. I COMPLETED MY DSCNT TO 10000 FT OVER HOLEY FEELING GOOD ABOUT MAKING THE RESTR ONLY TO FIND OUT FROM CTR THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT 11000 FT. HAVING FLOWN THIS RTE MANY TIMES AND HAVING LOADED THE 11000 FT RESTR IN THE RNAV (THOUGH IT WAS NOT ENGAGED); I WAS AWARE OF THE USUAL 11000 FT XING AND SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THE 10000 FT I ROGERED BACK. ALSO SHOULD I HAVE INFORMED THE FO OF THE RESTR; HE WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY QUESTIONED THIS UNUSUAL ALT. A FACTOR THAT COULD HAVE LED ME TO BELIEVE IN THE 10000 FT XING IS THE ARRS IN IAH; MDW AND CLEVELAND ALL HAVE 10000 FT RESTRS. I HAVE BEEN FLYING INTO THESE ARPTS FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. IRONICALLY I ELECTED TO DISCONNECT THE FMS FROM THE AUTOPLT BECAUSE OF THE SPD REDUCTIONS AND THE LATE DSCNT CALL FROM CTR FOR HOLEY. THE FMS IS SLOW TO RESPOND HOWEVER IT DID HAVE THE CORRECT XING ALT. THIS WAS MY MISTAKE DUE TO REPETITION; BUT ONE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD I BRIEFED THE FO AS PER COMPANY SOP.
