Narrative
WE HAD ONLY SPEAKER INSIDE COCKPIT ON THE 45 DEG ENTRY FOR L-HAND TFC FOR RWY 6 AT X47. MY FOREIGN STUDENT WAS FLYING AND I WAS LOOKING FOR TFC. IT WAS PROBABLY ABOUT 7-8 ACFT IN THE PATTERN AND ON THE GND. DUE TO THESE DISTRS; I MISSED AN ACFT COMING IN ON 45 DEG ENTRY ALSO. WHEN I COULD HEAR THAT SOMEONE ELSE WAS ON THE 45 DEG; I SAW BEHIND ME TO THE L AND THIS ACFT AND ANOTHER COMING FROM XWIND WERE ON COLLISION COURSE; SO ONE OF THEM; OR BOTH; BROKE OFF THEIR PATTERN. I WAS GOING TO BREAK MY PATTERN OFF; NOW ON DOWNWIND BUT REALIZED THAT IF I WOULD TURN OUT R; I WOULD MAYBE CREATE ANOTHER CONVERGENCE SIT WITH THE ACFT THAT BROKE OFF THEIR PATTERN. I DECIDED TO CONTINUE ON DOWNWIND AND TO RESUME THE APCH. IT WAS NOT MY INTENTION TO CUT ANYBODY OFF AND I THINK THAT MY CORRECTIVE ACTION SHOULD PROBABLY HAVE BEEN TO CIRCLE ABOVE THE ARPT BEFORE GOING IN ON THE 45 DEG ENTRY; TO SCAN FOR ALL POSSIBLE TFC. I SHOULD ALSO HAVE TURNED THE RADIO UP TO A LOUDER VOLUME IN ORDER TO HEAR ALL THE RADIO CALLS BETTER THROUGH THE ENG SOUND. I SHOULD ALSO HAVE BEEN TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE LACK OF COM BTWN ME AND MY FOREIGN STUDENT!
