Narrative

ROUTINE VFR CHARTER FROM NAPA COUNTY ARPT TO SALINAS. IN A C182 THAT IS LORAN EQUIPPED. LEVELED AT 3500 FT TO FOLLOW HWY 680 SOUTHWARD AROUND THE SFO CLASS B AIRSPACE. ABOUT 5 MI SW OF THE CONCORD ARPT; THE ALERT LIGHT GOES OFF INDICATING THAT I AM IN CLASS B AIRSPACE. I DOUBLECHKED ON MY VFR TERMINAL AREA CHART (WHICH WAS CURRENT) AND VERIFIED WITH GND CHKPOINTS THAT I WAS IN THE PROPER AREA. I HAD BRIONES RESERVOIR TO MY R AND WALNUT CREEK IN FRONT OF ME SO I FIGURED IT WAS A MALFUNCTION OF THE LORAN. I GOT ON FLT FOLLOWING ABOUT OVER DUBLIN AND STAYED WITH IT THE REST OF THE WAY INTO SALINAS. WHAT RAISED A QUESTION IN MY MIND WAS EVERY CTLR ASKED ME TO READ BACK MY CALL SIGN TWICE AND VERIFY MY SQUAWK CODE. I DO NOT SPEAK WITH AN ACCENT AND THEY SAID MY RADIOS WERE LOUD AND CLR WHEN ASKED; SO IT MADE ME THINK THAT PERHAPS A VIOLATION OF THE AIRSPACE HAD OCCURRED. I AM VERY SURE OF MY POS; BUT I KNOW THAT THE FAA IS ENFORCING POSSIBLE PROBS STRONGER AND STRONGER SO I WANT TO MAKE SURE MY RECORD STAYS CLR BY FILING THE PROPER PAPERWORK WITH YOU AT NASA.
