EMB120 ACFT INCURRED DAMAGE TO NACELLE FLAP BRACKET DURING LOWERING FLAPS. DISCOVERED ON GND BY FUELER.
Narrative
REFUELER NOTICED NACELLE FLAP BRACKET DAMAGED AND POINTED IT OUT TO FO. ATTACHMENT BRACKET ON NACELLE FLAP HAD SHEARED OFF ALONG PRE-EXISTING CRACK. FLAP HAD SIGNIFICANT LATERAL AND SOME VERT MOVEMENT. NO ADVERSE FLT CHARACTERISTICS NOTICED ON LNDG OR ROLLOUT. R NACELLE FLAP OUTBOARD SUPPORT BRACKET HAD SHEARED AND WAS HANGING DOWN JUST BELOW TRAILING EDGE OF WING. CLOSER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT INBOARD SUPPORT BRACKET HAD CRACKED AERODYNAMIC FAIRING APPROX 1-2 INCHES AND A CHAFED BONDING STRAP. NACELLE FLAP EXHIBITED SIGNIFICANT LATERAL MOVEMENT AND SOME VERTICAL MOVEMENT. ON APCH WHEN FLAPS 15 DEGS WERE SELECTED IT TOOK APPROX 5 SECONDS LONGER THAN NORMAL FOR THE FLAPS TO DEPLOY. NO DIFFERENCE NOTED ON SELECTION OF FLAPS 25 DEGS. ALL COCKPIT INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL AND FLYING PLT DID NOT NOTICE ANY ADVERSE FLYING CHARACTERISTICS. LNDG AND ROLLOUT WERE UNEVENTFUL. I WAS ESPECIALLY IMPRESSED AND THANKFUL THAT THE REFUELER WAS BOTH OBSERVANT AND HAD THE INITIATIVE TO POINT THIS PROB OUT TO THE FO.
