FLC OF A SUPER MD80 MOMENTARILY LOST CTL OF THE ACFT ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS; AND HEARD GPWS TERRAIN WARNINGS; DURING AN ILS APCH; AND SUBSEQUENT GAR DUE TO ENTERING EXTREME WINDSHEAR. THE WINDSHEAR WARNING SYS WAS NOT HEARD THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHEAR WX ENCOUNTER. CTL OF THE ACFT WAS FINALLY RE-ESTABLISHED AFTER EXITING THE WINDSHEAR DURING GAR CLB.

Narrative

APCH TO DFW WITH STORMS/SHOWERS IN THE AREA. A WX LINE NW TO SE JUST S OF THE FIELD (5-7 MI) PAINTED ON RADAR. ALTHOUGH LINE SHOWED RED; IT APPEARED TO BE THIN WITH NO ADVERSE PIREPS. DECISION MADE TO CONTINUE. ON DSCNT TO ESTIMATED GLIDEPATH; HAD DIFFICULTY DSNDING AND SLOWING. WITH APCH NOT STABILIZING AND RECOGNITION OF EXCESSIVE DSCNT RATE/ANGLE TO ESTIMATED SLOT; A GAR WAS MADE. AFTER GEAR RETRACTION; A LOSS OF ELEVATOR AUTH OCCURRED WITH ALT STAGNATING AT APPROX 2500 FT AND AIRSPD OF 160 KTS; FOLLOWED BY A RETURN AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF ELEVATOR AUTH AGAIN AT 3000 FT; THIS EPISODE LASTING LONGER THAN THE FIRST. THROUGHOUT RECOVERY; GPWS PULL-UP AND TERRAIN AURAL WARNING SOUNDED WITH RED BOX ITEMS ACCOMPLISHED. I DO NOT RECALL THE WINDSHEAR AVOIDANCE SYS ACTIVATING THROUGHOUT THE RECOVERY. DURING RECOVERY; TURB WAS MODERATE WITH HVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING. FOLLOWING THIRD LOSS AND REGAIN OF ELEVATOR AUTH; ALT CLBED RAPIDLY TO 6000 FT. THROTTLE REDUCTION OCCURRED AT 7000 FT WITH LEVELOFF AT 10500 FT AND RETURN TO STABLE AT 10000 FT. SUBSEQUENT VECTORS; DISCUSSION OF ALTERNATE AND REPEATED CHKS OF THE WX LINE'S MOVEMENT LED TO ANOTHER APCH WITH NORMAL LNDG.
