AN ATX C340 PLT TOUCHED DOWN SHORT OF A SNOW COVERED RWY AND HIT A LIGHT WITH THE NOSE GEAR AND THE PROP.
Narrative
I TOOK A CHARTER TRIP ON THE MORNING OF JAN/MON/98; TO ABERDEEN; SD. WX CONDITIONS WERE AS FOLLOWS: CLR BELOW 12000 FT; 10 MI VISIBILITY; WINDS 310 DEGS AT 9 KTS; WITH A SNOW COVERED RWY FROM A RECENT SNOW THE PREVIOUS NIGHT. AFTER BEING CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH I INTERCEPTED THE LOC TO RWY 31 AND CONTINUED THE APCH WITH FLAPS AT 15 DEGS AND LOWERED THE LNDG GEAR. CONTINUING ON THE APCH I STARTED TO FLATTEN OUT AND CORRECTED THE PROB. BACKING THE PWR OUT SLOWLY ON SHORT FINAL MAINTAINING ABOVE BLUE LINE I PUT FULL FLAPS IN. THE ACFT'S MAIN WHEELS TOUCHED DOWN PRIOR TO REACHING THE RWY AND THE CTRLINE LIGHT CONTACTED THE NOSE GEAR. THE LIGHT SNAPPED OFF; DISPLACED TO THE L; AND CAUGHT THE L PROP; WHICH IN TURN THEN KICKED INTO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE L WING. I TAXIED OFF THE RWY. I MAY HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED BY THE MM GOING OFF. THE ACFT WAS SET UP FOR AN ILS AND THE DEP ARPT WAS 800 FT AND 3/4 MI. SO I SHOULD HAVE TURNED THE AUDIO MARKER OFF PRIOR TO THE VISUAL INTO ABR. FRESH SNOW MAY ALSO HAVE BEEN AN ILLUSION. THE PROB COULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED IF I FOLLOWED THE ENTIRE INST PROC ON THE VISUAL APCH.
