A C185 AMPHIBIAN PLT LANDED GEAR UP ON THE FLOATS DAMAGING THE SKID STRIPS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOATS.
Narrative
AT THE END OF AN IFR FLT FROM ST LOUIS; MO; TO MENA; AR; I LANDED THE C185 ON AMPHIBIOUS FLOATS ON RWY 17 WITH THE GEAR UP. THE WX WAS GOOD AND NOT A FACTOR. I SHOT THE NDB APCH; ENTERED L DOWNWIND ON RWY 17; DID A NORMAL APCH WITH FULL FLAPS AND LANDED ON RWY 17. WHEN THE PLANE SLID TO A STOP JUST R OF THE CTRLINE; I ANNOUNCED ON UNICOM THE ARPT WAS CLOSED AND FOR ALL TFC TO GAR. THE PLANE WAS JACKED UP AND THE WHEELS WERE HAND PUMPED DOWN AND LOCKED. TAXIED TO PARKING. I FEEL THE PROB OCCURRED BECAUSE I WAS COMPLACENT AND DID NOT USE A CHKLIST. CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMPLACENCY WAS THE LAST PART OF THE FLT WAS IN CLR; SMOOTH FLYING CONDITIONS; THE NDB APCH WAS SHOT JUST FOR PRACTICE AND WHEN IT WAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY I LET MY GUARD DOWN AND DIDN'T FOLLOW PROCS. THIS WAS ALSO ONLY MY 4TH LNDG IN THIS PARTICULAR ACFT SINCE PURCHASING IT IN TORONTO; ONTARIO. I HAVE OVER 1400 HRS IN CESSNA 180/185'S; BUT ONLY 8 HRS IN AN AMPHIBIAN. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE SKID STRIPS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT KEELS. THESE SKID STRIPS WILL BE REPLACED.
