AN SMA PLT PRACTICING PWR OFF EMER LNDG PROCS FORGETS TO PLACE HIS GEAR DOWN. THE PROP CONTACTS THE RWY BEFORE HE CAN GO AROUND. THE GEAR WARNING HORN HADN'T ALERTED THE PLT.
Narrative
I WAS PRACTICING VARIOUS EMER LNDG PROCS; THE 4TH LNDG WAS A PWR OFF LNDG FROM ALT. FROM 1000 FT AGL AND 2 NM FROM THRESHOLD I PULLED PWR OFF. THE GEAR WARNING HORN DID NOT SOUND. I PROCEEDED WITH THE APCH AT MAX GLIDE SPD UNTIL CLOSE TO RWY THRESHOLD; I EXTENDED THE FLAPS. WHEN I NOTICED THAT I HAD OMITTED LOWERING THE LNDG GEAR; I ATTEMPTED A GAR. HOWEVER; THE PROP STRUCK THE RWY. I STABILIZED THE ACFT; REDUCED AIRSPD TO STALL SPD AND PERFORMED A WHEEL UP LNDG ON THE RWY. NO DAMAGES EXCEPT TO THE ACFT OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PLT OR ANYONE ELSE. I BELIEVE THE SIT OCCURRED BECAUSE I WAS PRACTICING NONSTANDARD APCHS AND DID NOT UTILIZE MY STANDARD LNDG CHKLIST. I CONCENTRATED MORE ON THE AIRSPD; APCH AND LNDG RATHER THAN THE LNDG CONFIGN OF THE ACFT. WHEN I FINALLY DETERMINED THAT I HAD NOT EXTENDED THE LNDG GEAR; I WAS UNABLE TO RETARD MY RATE OF DSCNT TO COMMENCE THE GAR PRIOR TO THE PROP STRIKE. MY SUGGESTION FOR PREVENTION IS TO BE MORE DILIGENT IN THE USE OF THE CHKLIST IN NONSTANDARD APCHS AND TO FLY WITH SAFETY PLT ON LOW ALT TRAINING.
