A LETTER OF COMPLAINT REGARDING JET BLAST DAMAGE WAS RECEIVED BY A CPR PLT. THE FLC DENIES THAT ANY DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED TO SAID VEHICLE OWNED BY THE LETTER WRITER.

Narrative

A PERSON UNKNOWN TO ME WROTE A DEMAND LETTER AND ALLEGED JET BLAST DAMAGE TO HIS CAR ON MAR/THU/98. AS SHOWN ON THE DIAGRAM OUR ACFT WAS PARKED IN THIS LOCATION BY THE FBO AND DURING PREFLT AND START UP THE AREA WAS CHKED FOR CARS AND EQUIP AS THERE ARE IN MY OPINION FAR TOO MANY ALLOWED ON THE RAMP. THE ACFT WAS FULL OF FUEL AND THE RAMP IS UPHILL FROM WHERE THE ACFT IS PARKED SO MORE PWR THAN NORMAL WOULD BE REQUIRED TO TAXI. THE CAPT HOWEVER USED ONLY THE MINIMUM REQUIRED TO MOVE THE ACFT WHICH WAS LESS THAN 50% N1 AND AN IMMEDIATE L TURN WAS STARTED. THERE WAS SEVERAL WITNESSES TO OUR TAXI THAT WHEN QUESTIONED BY ME WERE UNAWARE OF ANYTHING BLOWING ON THE RAMP. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS IS A VAIN ATTEMPT TO GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. CARS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE RAMP. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 396376: THE OWNER OF A CAR PARKED NEXT TO A SMALL HANGAR ON THE ACFT MOVEMENT AREA HAS WRITTEN SEVERAL LETTERS COMPLAINING OF EXHAUST SAND BLAST DAMAGE TO HIS CAR PARKED ON THE RAMP. IT WAS AT 7:30-8 O'CLOCK POS (150+ FT) AWAY FROM MY PLANE. I FEEL THERE IS SOME ANIMOSITY FROM SMALL AIRPLANE OPERATORS AT TIMES. HIS CAR HAD TO HAVE BEEN PARKED ON THE ROOF TO EVEN FEEL ANY EXHAUST. THE ENGS ARE 7 FT ABOVE THE GND.
