A C210 AFTER ANNUAL INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED; A MECH MAILED ALL 337 FORMS TO THE FAA BUT THE FORMS WERE NEVER RECEIVED.
Narrative
ON DEC/XX/96 AFTER REWEIGHING THE ACFT; I COMPLETED THE ANNUAL OF THIS ACFT BY COMPLETING THE ACFT LOGBOOK LABEL ENTRY AND THE MAJOR REPAIR AND MAJOR ALTERATION RPT FORM (337'S). I KEPT THE LOGBOOKS IN MY HANGAR WITH THE LABEL AND THE OWNER'S COPY OF THE 337'S; AND THE COPIES OF THE 337'S FOR THE FAA WERE PUT INTO THE ENVELOPE FOR THE FAA. THIS WAS DROPPED OFF AT OUTGOING MAIL BIN AT THE FBO FACILITY WHERE MY HANGAR IS LOCATED. I NEVER KNEW THE 337'S HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED UNTIL I HAD DONE A TITLE SEARCH ON THE ACFT; WHEN RECORDS FOR THE ACFT WERE MISSING. A RECORD OF 337'S FILED UNDER A MECH'S NAME NEED TO BE SENT TO THAT MECH TO SHOW: 1) 337 WAS RECEIVED; 2) NOTIFICATION TO MECH ASSURES NO BOGUS RECORDS HAVE BEEN MADE UNDER THE MECH'S NAME. THIS PAPERWORK DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ON SOME LONG FORM (TO SAVE ON PAPERWORK); BUT 3 X 3 WHITE NOTICE FROM RECEIVING FAA INSPECTOR; OR COMPUTER CAN OTHERWISE BE USED TO SOMEHOW PUT UP NOTICE; OR MAKE NOTICE ON (VIA) TELEPHONE CALL; OR LIST MECHS CAN CALL INTO MONTHLY AND GIVE HIS/HER NAME AND LICENSE NUMBER AND SECRET CODE (LIKE YOU USE FOR YOUR ATM AT BANK) AND RETRIEVE INFO REQUESTED.
