Narrative
I WAS CAPT AND PF ON FLT HSV-ATL ON APR/XA/98. WX CONDITIONS IN ATL WERE RPTED ON ATIS AS 6000 FT SCATTERED; WINDS OF 150 DEGS AT 11 KTS GUSTING TO 16 KTS. TWR THEN RPTED WINDS AS 170 DEGS AT 14 KTS. WE WERE VECTORED THROUGH THE LOC BEHIND A B767 FOR VISUAL APCH TO RWY 8L. FINAL APCH AIRSPD WAS ADJUSTED TO 141 KTS FOR THE ATIS RPTED WINDS; 40 DEG FLAP LNDG WITH MEDIUM AUTOBRAKES. SPACING RPTED AS 4.5 MI BEHIND THE B767. TWR DID NOT NOTIFY US OF ANY NEGATIVE LNDG RPTS. ACFT CONFIGURED PRIOR TO OM; ALL CHKLISTS COMPLETE AND APCH STABILIZED. GUSTY WINDS WERE EXPERIENCED DURING APCH; BUT WERE WITHIN LIMITS. DURING THE FLARE MANEUVER; THE AIRSPD INCREASED AND SINK RATE ALSO INCREASED. PWR WAS ADJUSTED TO CTL THE DSCNT. TOUCHDOWN WAS NORMAL; IN THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE. THE ACFT BEGAN TO DRIFT AND I ASKED THE FO TO HOLD YOKE FORWARD AND INTO THE WIND. I CAME OUT OF REVERSE AND ELECTED TO PASS HIGH SPD TURNOFF B11; CHOOSING TO ROLL TO THE END. NEARING THE RWY END; THE ACFT WAS NOT DECELERATING WITH FULL TOE BRAKES APPLIED. IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMAIN ON PREPARED SURFACE; A TURN WAS MADE TO THE L TO EXIT ON THE WIDER AREA OF TXWY (N OF RWY 8L). THE ACFT CAME TO REST OFF THE E END OF TXWY A. TWR AND PAX WERE NOTIFIED. OPS WAS CONTACTED TO COORDINATE A TUG TO MOVE THE ACFT.
