TAXIED OUT FOR A MORNING DEP AT DFW ARPT. EXITED RAMP AT G5 CLRED N ON TXWY G; R TURN ON TXWY Y (GOING E) TO CONTACT E GND ON YANKEE BRIDGE. FO INITIATED RADIO CONTACT WITH E GND AND WE THEN RECEIVED A CLRNC TO RWY 17R. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER ANOTHER CLRNC WAS ISSUED TXWY YANKEE TO TXWY JULIET TO EF. FO MISSED CLRNC AS HE WAS BUSY GETTING FINAL NUMBERS AND DOING TAXI CHECKLIST. TAXIING E ON TXWY YANKEE I WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY SIGN FOR TXWY J. I SAW ONE ACR AT END OF RWY AWAITING DEP AND ANOTHER STOPPED AT K AND Z TXWYS FACING NBND APPEARED TO BE WAITING FOR US. AS WE TURNED NBND INTO THE RUNUP AREA E GND TOLD US WE HAD CUT ACFT (STOPPED) OFF AND WE WERE ENCROACHING ON TXWY K THRU RUNUP AREA. I APOLOGIZED IF I GOT IN THEIR WAY -- BUT NOT ANY EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN. UNLESS YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS AREA; IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TELL WHERE YOU ARE! (AGAIN TXWY J IS NOT MARKED.) THERE ARE NO MARKINGS ON TARMAC WHERE TXWY Y TURNS N ON TXWYS K OR L. LEAD-INS SHOULD BE MARKED WITH LARGE LETTERING AT THE TURNS OR THE TAXI ROUTE COLOR CODED AS AT HOUSTON HOBBY. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONFUSING TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH DFW. NO CONFLICT REALLY OCCURRED EVEN THOUGH THE E GND CTLR MADE A BIG FUSS OVER NOTHING. I BELIEVE COLOR CODING THE TAXI ROUTES THROUGH THE RUNUP AREA IS A MUCH BETTER ALTERNATIVE N OF TXWY Y. IF SOMETHING IS NOT CORRECTED; EVENTUALLY A REAL PROBLEM WILL OCCUR.
