Narrative

RECEIVED SUMMA 5 LKV TRANSITION FROM SEA CLRNC DELIVERY. THE ALT CLRED TO WAS READ BACK AS 10000 FT AND CLRNC ACKNOWLEDGED THE READBACK AS 'READBACK CORRECT.' AFTER TKOF I CONTACTED DEP CTL AS INSTRUCTED AND READ BACK '...OUT OF 2000 FT FOR 10000 FT.' WHEN CLBING WE RECEIVED A TA AND THEN AN RA FROM TCASII AS WE CONTINUED OUR CLB TO 10000 FT. THE CAPT RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY BY LEVELING OFF THEN DSNDING. DEP VERIFIED; WITH SEEMING UNCERTAINTY; THAT OUR ALT LIMIT WAS 9000 FT. WE LEVELED OFF AT 9000 FT AND NEVER COMING CLOSER THAN APPROX 1000 FT OF THE ACFT AT 10000 FT. IN THE FUTURE I WILL QUESTION ANY CLRNC THAT FAILS TO CONFORM TO THE NORMAL OR TYPICAL DEP CLRNC ISSUED FROM THAT FACILITY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 402906: I TURNED ON MY SPEAKER AS THE FO WAS GETTING THE CLRNC. I DID NOT HEAR ALL THE CLRNC BUT DID HEAR THE CTLR SAY 'READBACK CORRECT.' I QUESTIONED THE FACT THAT WE WERE CLRED TO 10000 FT AND HE CONFIRMED THAT WAS OUR CLRNC; AND HE HAD WRITTEN DOWN 10000 FT. WE CHKED ON FREQ AND SAID CLBING TO 10000 FT. THE CTLR ACKNOWLEDGED THE CALL. WE THEN RECEIVED A TCASII ALERT AND SAW AN ACFT AT OUR 1 O'CLOCK POS CONVERGING. WE MISSED THE OTHER ACFT BY AT LEAST 1000 FT VERTLY. I DID NOT TURN MY SPEAKER ON QUICKLY ENOUGH TO TELL FOR SURE WHAT THE CLRNC REALLY WAS; AND I PLAN TO MAKE SURE I HEAR ALL THE CLRNC FROM NOW ON. THANK YOU TCASII.
