ACR DEP OFF SDF ARPT RECEIVES TA FROM CTLR AND A TCASII RA ABOUT THE SAME TIME.

Narrative

ON INITIAL CLBOUT FROM SDF THE DEP CTLR ISSUED TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK POS AND 5 MI. TCASII DISPLAY CONFIRMED THE CONFLICT IN THE CALLED POS WITH AN ORANGE CIRCLE. MY INITIAL REACTION WAS TO TRY TO OUT-CLB THE TFC BUT WE WERE STILL AT 200 KIAS. AS A R SEAT PF I WANTED NOT TO MEET THE ON-COMING ACFT AT 12 O'CLOCK POS AND THEN LOSE HIM IN THE UPPER COCKPIT STRUCTURE DURING THE CLOSEST APCH. I TURNED L 30-60 DEGS TO KEEP THE INTRUDER IN VIEW AND (I THOUGHT) DELAY THE PASS UNTIL I HAD COMPLETED THE PUSHOVER TO GO UNDER THE TFC (TCASII DIRECTED RA TO DSND). THE BONANZA FINALLY SAW US AT HIS 12 O'CLOCK POS AND BROKE (UNNECESSARILY) HARD TO HIS L. DUE TO THE WAY THE GEOMETRY DEVELOPED I PROBABLY MADE THE SIT WORSE BY TURNING L BUT AT THE TIME MAINTAINING SIGHT WAS THE MORE IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION. I SHOULD HAVE CONCENTRATED MORE INTENTLY ON THE VERT MANEUVER TO INCREASE THE MISS DISTANCE. EVEN THOUGH THE CTLR CALLED OUT THE VFR TFC HE SHOULD HAVE RESTR OUR CLB OR GIVEN US AN AVOIDANCE VECTOR TO PREVENT THIS EVENT FROM HAPPENING.
