ON JUN/FRI/98; I WAS FLYING A SCHEDULED TRIP FOR THE COMPANY WHICH EMPLOYS ME. I WAS RESCHEDULED IN THE EARLY PART OF THE DAY AND I RETURNED TO MY BASE; ORD. UPON ARR I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FO THAT I WAS SCHEDULED TO FLY WITH WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK AND THAT THEY HAD A REPLACEMENT FO FOR ME. UPON ARRIVING AT ORD I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE SWITCHING ACFT ALSO. I HAD ABOUT 20 MINS BTWN FLTS TO GATHER MY BELONGINGS FROM ONE ACFT AND SWITCH TO THE OTHER. WHEN I ARRIVED TO ORD; OPS GAVE ME MY DISPATCH RELEASE AND TOLD ME MY FO WAS PREFLTING THE ACFT. UPON ARRIVING AT THE ACFT I MET MY FO WHO WAS NEW TO THE COMPANY AND ONLY BEEN OFF IOE FOR ABOUT 2 WKS. WE REVIEWED THE PROCS PRIOR TO DEP ABOUT THE MAINT ITEMS AND REVIEWED THE WX. MY FO AND I DEPARTED ORD FOR SQI. AS WE CLBED OUT I INFORMED HIM THAT I HAD ENGAGED THE AUTOPLT. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT; HE INFORMED ME THAT HE WASN'T AUTOPLT CHKED. WE CONTINUED THE FLT TO SQI AND LANDED. I THEN CALLED MY CHIEF PLT AND INFORMED HIM THAT I WAS DISPATCHED WITH FO WHO IS NOT AUTOPLT CHKED. MY CHIEF PLT THEN INFORMED ME TO CONTINUE THE SCHEDULED TRIP AND THAT I WAS TO DO ALL OF THE FLYING AND MY FO WAS TO ONLY OPERATE THE RADIOS. I CONTINUED THE FLT AS INSTRUCTED BY MY CHIEF PLT IN FEAR OF I MAY GET REPRIMANDED IF I DID NOT DO SO. I HAVE LEARNED THAT I CANNOT TRUST THE COMPANY DISPATCHERS WHO ARE INFORMED WHO IS QUALIFIED IN WHAT ACFT; AND ARE SUPPOSED TO CONSIDER THAT WHEN DISPATCHING US. MY FO TOLD ME THAT HE HAD TOLD THE SCHEDULERS THAT HE IS NOT AUTOPLT CHKED PRIOR TO OUR DEP AND THEY ASSURED HIM IT WOULD NOT BE AN AUTOPLT ACFT WE WOULD BE FLYING. I NOW ASK MY CREW MEMBERS IF THEY ARE QUALIFIED PRIOR TO DEP.
