PLT OF A TRINIDAD HAS NOSE GEAR UNABLE TO RETRACT. ON FIRST ATTEMPT AT LNDG THE L GEAR BEGINS TO RETRACT. A GAR IS PERFORMED AND IT IS NOTED AFTER LNDG THAT THE L AILERON WAS NICKED AND THE PROP WAS TOO.

Narrative

I HAD DEPARTED RWY 24 FOR A 30 MIN SIGHTSEEING LCL TRIP OVER CAPE COD. UPON DEP; THE NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. I ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE THE GEAR TWICE AT SLOW AIRSPD BUT NOW ALL 3 LIGHTS REMAINED GREEN SO I LEFT GEAR DOWN; CLBED TO 1500 FT; PICKED UP ATIS THEN HYA TWR TO STATE LNDG INTENTIONS. BY THE TIME I CALLED TWR AT HYA; THEY HAD CLOSED THE ARPT DUE TO A TWIN ENG PLANE DECLARING AN EMER FOR LACK OF A LNDG GEAR LIGHT. MANY PLANES WERE ANNOUNCING HOLDS OVER 'BISHOPS' SO I CONTINUED TO N SIDE OF CAPE COD TOWARD PROVINCETOWN WITH THE GEAR DOWN AT 1500 FT. I LISTENED TO THE TWIN MAKE A SUCCESSFUL LNDG ON RWY 24; THE PREVAILING RWY. THE TWR INSTRUCTED THE TWIN TO STOP ON RWY 24 AND PROCEEDED TO CLR LNDGS AND DEPS ON RWY 15; A XWIND RWY. I GOT CLRNC TO LAND; CONFIRMED GUMP AND SQUEAKED L WHEEL FIRST; THEN R. BEFORE THE NOSEWHEEL TOUCHED; THE L WHEEL BEGAN TO RETRACT. IT FELT LIKE A FLAT TIRE. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO FULL THROTTLE; RAISED FLAPS TO 10 DEGS AND RAISED GEAR LEVER FOR AIRSPD. I ANNOUNCED AN EMER GEAR EXTENSION; GOT 3 GREEN LIGHTS AGAIN; AND CAME AROUND TO LAND RWY 15. THERE WAS NO VIBRATION; BUT THE L AILERON WAS NICKED AND APPARENTLY THE PROP NICKED TOO. NO ONE WAS HURT; AND WITNESSES SAW THE GEAR DOWN ON FIRST APCH. THE FAA INSPECTOR; AT THE SCENE ON RWY 24 WITH THE TWIN; SAW THE CLBOUT AND GEAR RETRACTION. THE L WING WAS HEAVIER WITH FUEL DUE TO THE HOLDS; BUT SQUAT SWITCH SHOULD HAVE KEPT GEAR DOWN.
