PAX FLT IN BELLANCA VIKING 300 BEHIND A C152 WITH PASSING SMALL RAIN SHOWERS TO L ON TKOF; L-HAND PATTERN. FIELD ALWAYS IN EASY SIGHT BUT SOME DIFFICULTY KEEPING C152 IN SIGHT IN INTERMITTENT RAIN AS IT REMAINED IN PATTERN MAKING NO UNICOM RADIO RPTS OF INTENTIONS (122.8). WE CALLED 'REMAINING IN PATTERN; L DOWNWIND' THEN 'L BASE.' HAD SOME DIFFICULTY KEEPING C152 IN SIGHT SO MADE OUR PATTERN WIDER IN RAIN; SLOWED; ADDED AND REDUCED FLAPS; ETC; AND INTERRUPTING USUAL PRELNDG CHKS AND QUESTIONING GAR IF C152 AHEAD DIDN'T CLR RWY. IT DID. WE ADDED FULL FLAPS; ETC; BUT MISSED GEAR DOWN AND WERE UNAWARE UNTIL PROP STRIKE ON RWY. HAD NOISE ABATING EARPHONES AND DIDN'T HEAR WARNING HORN. SLID OFF RWY ONTO GRASS WITH NO INJURIES AND MINIMAL ACFT DAMAGE; EXCEPT MAJOR PROP DAMAGE AND ENG TO BE EVALUATED. DAMAGED FUEL SUMP DRAIN PLUGS SO FIRE DEPT CALLED TO STAND BY AS WE LIFTED BELLANCA AND USED EMER PUMP TO LOWER GEAR. THEN ABLE TO PLUG GASOLINE LEAKS AND TOW AIRPLANE TO HANGAR. HAD NO FURTHER COM WITH C152. LATER REVIEW OF PLTS OPERATING HANDBOOK FOR THE BELLANCA SHOWS THE GEAR WARNING HORN IS ACTIVATED BY MANIFOLD PRESSURE LESS THAN 12 INCHES; AND WE WERE CARRYING SOME PWR UNTIL ALMOST TOUCHDOWN.
