Synopsis

A B737-500 AFTER TKOF WAS UNABLE TO RETRACT THE MAIN AND NOSE LNDG GEAR DUE TO THE R MAIN GEAR GND SHIFT TELEFLEX WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE GEAR TORQUE LINK.

Narrative

ON ACFT XYZ ON AUG/XA/98 I WAS ASSIGNED THE TASK OF RECONNECTING THE GND SPOILER TELEFLEX CABLE. AFTER COMPLETION OF THIS JOB; IT WAS VISUALLY CONFIRMED BY INSPECTION. THE ACFT REMAINED IN 'C' CHK FOR APPROX 1 MORE DAY; AT WHICH TIME IT WAS RELEASED TO LINE MAINT FOR FINAL CHKS ON AUG/XB/98. THE ACFT WAS FLOWN FROM ZZZ TO YXY AS FLT ABC. AFTER TKOF THE CREW WAS UNABLE TO RETRACT LNDG GEAR. UPON ARR AT LAX IT WAS FOUND THAT THE GND SPOILER TELEFLEX CABLE WAS DISCONNECTED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT AFTER CONNECTING THE TELEFLEX TO THE TORQUE LINK THE INSPECTOR WAS ADVISED AND THE COMPLETED JOB WAS INSPECTED AND SIGNED OFF. THE RPTR SAID THAT THE ACFT HAD 1 MORE DAY IN THE HANGAR TO COMPLETE ALL THE WORK AND IT IS SUSPECT THAT SOME OTHER CHKS REQUIRING GND SHIFT WERE PERFORMED AND THE TELEFLEX WAS NOT CONNECTED. THE RPTR STATED IT WAS AMAZING THAT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED IN THIS AREA; INCLUDING THE LINE CREW AND FLC; HAD MISSED SEEING THE TELEFLEX DISCONNECTED.
