Narrative
OUR FLT HAD BEEN DELAYED DUE MAINT. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE PHONE WITH THE CHIEF PLT DISCUSSING THAT I DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING THE ACFT WITH THE INBOARD ROLL SPOILERS DEFERRED. OUR FLT WAS SCHEDULED OUT AT XA11 AND WE WERE OVER 1 HR LATE. WE DID OUR AFTER START CHKS; THEN CALLED RAMP CTL. RAMP CLRED US TO SPOT X. I CALLED FOR THE TAXI CHKS. WE COMPLETED THE TAXI CHKS BY THE TIME WE REACHED SPOT X. MENTALLY; I WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH MY CONCERN ABOUT THE DEFERRAL AND HOW IT WOULD AFFECT THE HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE AIRPLANE. THE NEXT THING I HEARD WAS MY FO SAYING 'CLR R.' I THEN CONTINUED TO CROSS RWY 5/23. RAMP CTL CALLED AND ASKED IF WE HAD CALLED GND. THAT IS WHEN WE REALIZED WE HAD NOT GOTTEN TAXI CLRNC. WE THEN CALLED GND AND WERE ASKED TO CALL THEM AFTER REACHING OUR DEST. WE WERE THEN CLRED TO CONTINUE TAXI. AFTER ARRIVING AT PGV; I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE TRACON SUPVR WHO SAID HE WOULD BE FILING A PLTDEV RPT WITH CLT FSDO. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE ANXIETY OVER MAINT; RUSHING TO MAKE SCHEDULE; MY FO WAS THE SECOND ONE THAT DAY AND OUR FIRST LEG TOGETHER; THE FO WAS ALSO A CAPT QUALIFIED TO FLY R SEAT; BUT WAS NOT COMFORTABLE THERE BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN FLYING R SEAT PREVIOUSLY. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED BECAUSE OF A COMBINATION OF CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH CUMULATIVELY CREATED AN OVERLOAD SIT TO MISS THE CALL TO GND CTL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 412623: WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI OUT TO SPOT X AND CONTACT GND ON 121.9 FOR RWY 36R. I WAS CHKING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL TO CONFIRM THE CORRECT BREAKER HAD BEEN TIE WRAPPED BY MAINT. AS I LOOK UP; WE HAD PASSED SPOT X AND WERE ABOUT TO CROSS RWY 5. I LOOKED BOTH WAYS AND THE AREA WAS CLR. AT THIS TIME NEITHER THE CAPT NOR MYSELF REALIZED WE HAD FAILED TO CONTACT GND.
