AS THE CTLR QUESTIONED WHICH ACFT WAS LINED UP FOR RWY 4L; THE C172 CFI INSTRUCTOR OBSERVED THE DSNDING AA5 AND TOOK EVASIVE ACTION. THE CTLR CLRED THE C172 TO LAND ON RWY 4R.

ACFT #1 'CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 4L' AND VERIFIED BY PLT. ACFT #2 'CLRED TO LAND #2 ON RWY 4L.' I; PLT OF ACFT #1; LOOKED FOR TFC AND FOUND NOTHING. THE #2 ACFT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEQUENCED MUCH FARTHER BACK AND I WAS ENTERING DOWNWIND LEG; SO I CONCENTRATED ON THE LNDG PHASE. AFTER FLYING BASE AND 1/2 WAY DOWN FINAL; CTLR OF HNL TWR ASKED ME 'ACFT #1; WHAT RWY ARE YOU LINED UP WITH?' I RESPONDED; 'RWY 4L.' THEN THE CTLR ASKED; 'ACFT #2; WHAT RWY ARE YOU LINED UP ON?' ACFT #2 RESPONDED; 'RWY 4L.' AT THAT INSTANT I KNEW THAT 2 ACFT HAD TO BE VERY CLOSE; SO I LOOKED ALL AROUND AND WHEN I LOOKED STRAIGHT UP; I SAW THE GRUMMAN DIRECTLY ABOVE ME; DSNDING FOR THE RWY. HE WAS ONLY ABOUT 100 FT ABOVE ME. WHEN I SAW THIS; I CLRED TO THE R AND BROKE R. AT THE SAME TIME; THE TWR CTLR SAID 'ACFT #1; SIDESTEP R; CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 4R.' I LANDED ON RWY 4R UNEVENTFULLY. I THINK THAT CONTRIBUTING TO THE SIT WAS 3 THINGS: 1) HIGH WING ACFT UNDER A LOW WING ACFT. 2) CTLR NOT HAVING #2 ACFT IDENT TFC AHEAD. 3) CTLR'S OVEREXPECTATION THAT PLTS CAN SEE AND AVOID EVEN WITH ACFT VISIBILITY RESTRS.
