Synopsis

2 PLTS; ALTERNATING FLYING A BEECH DUCHESS BE76; WERE ADVISED BY THE TWR UPON RETURNING TO HOME BASE THAT IT APPEARED THAT THEIR NOSEWHEEL WAS MISSING. IT WAS; SO THEY LANDED BY FEATHERING THE 2 PROPS PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN RESULTING IN MINIMUM DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.

Narrative

PLT ARRIVED AT THE TIE-DOWN LOCATION OF THE ACFT FIRST AND PERFORMED A THOROUGH PREFLT INSPECTION. SHORTLY AFTER THE ARR OF THE OTHER PLT; BOTH PLTS WENT OVER ANOTHER PREFLT INSPECTION AS PER THE POH. THE FLT COMMENCED WITH PLT AT THE CTLS OF THE ACFT. AFTER APPROX 45 MINS; RETURNED FOR 1 TOUCH-AND-GO LNDG AT GILLESPIE FIELD RWY 27R AND PROCEEDED BACK TO MONTGOMERY FIELD. AFTER ARRIVING AT MYF; THE TWR ADVISED THE PLT THAT THE NOSEWHEEL ON HIS ACFT IS MISSING. THE PLTS THEN PERFORMED A MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION AND RETURNED FOR A LOW APCH (FLY- BY) FOR THE TWR TO VISUALLY IDENT THE PROB. THE TWR THEN CONFIRMED TO THE PLTS THAT THE NOSEWHEEL IS MISSING AND THE NOSEWHEEL ASSEMBLY (STRUT) AND BOTH MAIN GEAR WERE DOWN. BOTH PLTS TOOK THE TIME TO REVIEW THE GEAR UP EMER PROC IN THE POH. ON APCH TO LNDG POINT; PF WAS AT THE CTL AND PNF ALSO ASSISTED IN SOME OF THE PROCS. LNDG WAS PERFORMED ON RWY 28R AT MYF WITH BOTH ENGS FEATHERED TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE. EMER CREWS WERE AT THE SCENE AND FOUND NO FUEL LEAKS OR ANY HAZARDS. BOTH PLTS THEN RELEASED THEIR SEAT BELTS AND EXITED THE ACFT SAFELY.
