FLT ATTENDANT RPT REGARDING AN ENG FIRE AND RESULTING SHUTDOWN ON AN MD80.

Narrative

I WAS FLYING POS #1. JUST GOT ALL MY MEAL TRAYS OUT TO PAX WHEN I HEARD 4 CHIMES. I WENT TO THE COCKPIT. CAPT SAID WE HAVE A FIRE IN OUR L ENG; LNDG IN 6 MINS AND WE'LL BE LNDG IN MEM; PREPARE THE CABIN. I LEFT THE COCKPIT AND WENT TO THE OTHER 2 FLT ATTENDANTS STILL SERVING DRINKS IN THE AISLE WITH THE CART. TOLD #4 FLT ATTENDANT CAPT SAID WE'LL BE LNDG IN MEM IN 6 MINS; PUT THE CART AWAY. I THEN WENT BACK UP FRONT AND MADE A PA 'LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THE CAPT JUST INFORMED ME WE'LL BE LNDG IN MEM IN 6 MINS. PLEASE BRING YOUR SEAT BACKS TO AN UPRIGHT POS AND STOW YOUR TRAY TABLE; ALL OTHER LUGGAGE NEEDS TO GO UNDER THE SEAT IN FRONT OF YOU.' I PICKED UP ALL MY TRAYS; BUT BEFORE I GOT THE SECOND TRAY UP; 1 OF THE 2 JUMP SEATERS ASKED IF SHE COULD PICK-UP. I SAID YES; PLEASE; AND LET THE OTHER FLT ATTENDANTS KNOW THERE'S A FIRE IN OUR L ENG AND THEY SHUT THE ENG OFF. I FINISHED PICKING UP ALL MY TRAYS AND THEN DID A COMPLIANCE CHK THROUGH MAIN CABIN. SEATS WERE STILL BACK; LUGGAGE OUT; ETC. I GOT TO THE BACK AND ALL THE FLT ATTENDANTS WERE STANDING THERE EXCEPT #4 FLT ATTENDANT. I SAID WHERE IS SHE. SHE'S IN THE L-HAND LAVATORY. I THEN WENT TO TAKE MY JUMP SEAT AND THE CAPT WANTED TO TALK TO ME ONCE MORE. HE SAID DO NOT USE THE TAILCONE AND I'LL BE USING EASY VICTOR TWICE AND MENTION ANY OTHER EXIT NOT TO USE. I CALLED THE FLT ATTENDANTS IN THE BACK; TOLD THEM WHAT THE CAPT SAID; AND ALSO REMINDED THEM TO ACCESS AND UNLESS THE CAPT STOPPED THE ACFT AND YOU SEE ANYTHING; REMEMBER YOU CAN START AN EVAC. WE LANDED AND THEN WE EXITED BY JETBRIDGE. THE CAPT DID COME ON THE PA AFTER HE TALKED TO ME THE SECOND TIME AND GAVE THE PAX SOME INFO. FLT ATTENDANT #2 HAD ONLY BEEN FLYING A COUPLE OF WKS. THE #2 FLT ATTENDANT AND I THEN WORKED THE FULL F100 BACK TO ORD THAT NIGHT THAT THEY FERRIED THE FLT IN.
