ACR FLC DEVIATES FROM CLRED RTE ON DEP IN LAX AIRSPACE.
Narrative
FLEW OFF COURSE ON LAXX 3 DEP; DAGGETT TRANSITION. DISCOVERED OFF COURSE WHEN FLYING SLI DIRECT DAG. SHOULD HAVE FLOWN SLI -- SLI/003/29 DME DAG. USUALLY OUT OF LAX YOU GET VECTORS FOR NOISE AROUND PACIFIC PALISADES; THEN CLRED DIRECT TO DAG. THAT IS WHAT I HAVE RECEIVED FOR THE PAST 16 MONTHS OUR OF LAX. THIS TIME; ON CLBOUT; WE RECEIVED 'FLY DIRECT SLI DAGGETT TRANSITION.' WE PUT IN DIRECT SLI DIRECT DAGGETT. THERE IS A 14000 FT RESTR AT SLI. WHILE LOOKING TO MAKE SURE WE MADE THE ALT RESTR; I FORGOT TO LINK THE TRANSITION UP PROPERLY. WE DID NOT BRIEF THE SLI DAGGETT TRANSITION SO THIS CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD. IN THE RUSH TO GET TO SLI OUT OF LAX AND MEET THE ALT RESTR BECAUSE OF ITS CLOSE PROX TO OUR PRESENT POS; AND A CONCERN FOR AN ACFT AHEAD OF US AND POSSIBLE WX E OF OUR POS; I DID NOT SEE THE TRANSITION PROPERLY ON PAPER. THE TRANSITION IS NOT IN THE FMS. SO WE WOULD HAVE TO BUILD IT INFLT. FLYING OUT OF LAX GETS BUSY WITH HDG; ALT; AND FREQ CHANGES OCCURRING AT THE SAME TIME. THIS; IN CONJUNCTION WITH LATE AT NIGHT AND MIXED WX; CAUSED THE ERROR. SOLUTION IS TO USE RAW DATA AND MAYBE NOT GET CLRED TO A FIX WHEN YOU ARE SO CLOSE TO IT.
