ATX PLT VECTORED TO FINAL FOR VISUAL SIDE-BY APCH WITH ANOTHER ACFT. ATX PLT CAN NOT RPT TFC IN SIGHT DUE TO SUN. STL APCH CTLR TAKES THE ATX PLT BACK OUT FOR RESEQUENCING. DIFFERENT CTLR RE-ESTABLISHES SEQUENCE AND ATX PLT LANDS WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

Narrative

AS I WAS BEING VECTORED FOR THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 12L AT STL; THE APCH CTLR INSTRUCTED ME TO MAINTAIN 170 KTS AND JOIN THE RWY 12L LDA LOC. AS I WAS DOING THIS; THE CTLR POINTED OUT TFC AT MY 3 O'CLOCK POS. WHAT THE CTLR DID NOT REALIZE IS THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEE THAT TFC TO MY R DUE TO THE REDUCED VISIBILITY OF THE SETTING SUN. I DID LET THE CTLR KNOW I WAS LOOKING; BUT ALSO HAVING TROUBLE SEEING TO THE R BECAUSE OF THE SUN. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT THE CTLR BEGAN ACTING IN AN UNPROFESSIONAL MANNER AND CREATING A SERIOUS DISTR. THE CTLR BEGAN SHOUTING 'LOOK OUT YOUR R WINDOW.' AS I TRIED EXPLAINING THAT I SIMPLY COULD NOT SEE THE TFC IN THE SUN; HE SNAPPED BACK WITH 'THAT'S IT; YOU'RE GOING BACK AROUND;' AND IT WAS AT THIS POINT HE REVECTORED ME BACK AROUND. AFTER BEING REVECTORED FOR THE APCH WITH I BELIEVE A DIFFERENT CTLR; THE SIT WAS THEN FINE. I DO BELIEVE THAT I MAY HAVE DRIFTED SLIGHTLY R OF COURSE ON THE LDA LOC THE FIRST TIME; AND THIS MAY HAVE BEEN WHY THE CTLR REVECTORED ME. UNFORTUNATELY THE CTLR SEEMED UNWILLING TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN SHOUTING. AFTER LNDG AND ANALYZING THE SIT; IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT WITH THE RWYS ARRANGED IN THE MANNER THAT THEY ARE; AND THE DISTR THAT THE FIRST CTLR CREATED; IT COULD BE POSSIBLE TO HAVE LANDED ON RWY 13 AS OPPOSED TO RWY 12L DUE TO THE LDA LOC. I FELT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD THE CTLR KEPT HIS PROFESSIONALISM.
