Narrative
CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 1L AT SFO. TAXIED INTO POS ON THE OVERRUN AT THE VERY END. SPOOLED ENGS; RELEASED BRAKES. PWR WAS FLX 50; WE WERE LIGHT. TWR CALLED; SAID 'CANCEL TKOF CLRNC.' WE'D ROLLED ONLY ABOUT 200 FT. THERE WAS AN ACFT LNDG AND THEY MUST HAVE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TOO CLOSE. WE USED VERY LIGHT BRAKING; BRAKE TEMPS WERE STILL NORMAL. I ASKED THE COPLT TO CHK THE RWY REMAINING AND ALLOWABLE TKOF GROSS WT. WE BOTH CONCLUDED THERE WAS STILL PLENTY OF RWY REMAINING AS WE WERE ONLY AROUND 50 FT PAST THRESHOLD NEAR INTXN H. WE HAD TAKEN THE RWY AT TXWY M. TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF AND WE DECIDED TO USE NORMAL PWR INSTEAD OF FLX. WE LIFTED OFF XING THE RWYS 28 AS NORMAL DEP. LOOKING BACK; IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SAFER TO TAXI BACK TO TXWY M. BUT I LET MYSELF GET RUSHED. ON THE WAY DOWN TO LAX; TALKING IT OVER; WE BOTH DECIDED THAT HAD SOMETHING HAPPENED; IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRETTY STUPID TO LEAVE RWY BEHIND US. ALSO; BY THE LETTER OF THE LAW; THE ALLOWABLE TKOF GROSS WTS WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN VALID FOR TKOF AS THEY ONLY APPLY FROM THE EXACT THRESHOLD TO THE END (WE WERE ABOUT 50 FT PAST). LOTS OF TIMES WHEN WE LINE UP; I ROLL 50 FT PAST PRIOR TO GETTING FULL PWR SET. IN THE FUTURE; I AM GOING TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO GET THE MAX RWY FOR TKOF AND NOT LET COMPLACENCY SLIP IN. WE (MY FO AND ME) BOTH LEARNED FROM THE INCIDENT. THE DEP AND ARR INTO LAX WAS NORMAL.
