AN ATR42 LANDED ON A SNOW COVERED RWY AND SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE ACFT VEERED TO THE L STRIKING 5 RWY LIGHTS INCURRING DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.
Narrative
UPON LNDG IN TRAVERSE CITY; MI; WE LANDED ON A SANDED AND CHEMICALLY TREATED RWY THAT WAS SNOW COVERED. WE EXPERIENCED A NORMAL TOUCHDOWN; AND SHORTLY AFTERWARD THE ACFT VEERED TO L. WE ENCOUNTERED 5 RWY EDGE LIGHTS. I WORKED TO RETURN ACFT TO CTR OF RWY AND SUCCEEDED. THE CONDITIONS AT TIME OF LNDG WERE RPTED BY ATIS AS WIND 320 DEGS AT 10 KTS; CEILING 1000 FT SCATTERED; 3000 FT SCATTERED; 5500 FT BROKEN; TEMP M2/DEWPOINT M4; ILS 28 IN USE. DURING APCH ATC RPTED WIND TO BE 030 DEGS AT 17 KTS. WE TAXIED TO GATE AND DEPLANED NORMALLY BY JETBRIDGE. UPON POSTFLT INSPECTION; WE DISCOVERED DAMAGE TO ACFT. ACFT HAS MAINT HISTORY OF WORN AND FLATTENED TIRES ON L SIDE OF ACFT. MECH LATER RPTED TO ME THAT PROB MAY BE WITH ANTI-SKID SYS ON L SIDE OF ACFT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT STRUCK 5 RWY LIGHTS WHEN THE ACFT VEERED TO THE L INCURRING DAMAGE TO THE R NOSE LNDG GEAR DOOR; SMALL DENTS AND HOLES IN THE AFT FUSELAGE AND A 10 INCH SKID MARK ON THE #1 TIRE. THE RPTR SAID AT THE GATE MAINT ADVISED THAT THIS ACFT HAD A HISTORY OF WORN AND FLATTENED TIRES ON THE L GEAR. THE RPTR SAID THE CAUSE OF THE VEERING TO THE L IN THIS EVENT IS NOT KNOWN AND WAS NOT REVEALED BY MAINT.
