Narrative
ON AN ILS APCH; MY CREW ENCOUNTERED WINDSHEAR. THE CURRENT WX WAS AS STATED ABOVE TO INCLUDE WINDS 330 DEGS AT 22 KTS GUSTING TO 33 KTS. AFTER BEING VECTORED TO AN ILS APCH; WE CONFIGURED THE ACFT NORMALLY AND WERE STABILIZED ON THE APCH. WHEN WE REACHED BTWN 50-100 FT AGL THE AIRSPD INCREASED FROM 151 KTS TO 160 KTS. THE CAPT MADE A SLIGHT PWR CORRECTION AND THEN WE HAD AN INSTANTANEOUS LOSS OF 20 KIAS. THE ACFT STARTED TO DROP FROM THE SKY; THE CAPT RAPIDLY INCREASED PWR AND INCREASED PITCH TO HALT THE SINK RATE. A FIRM LNDG (NOT HARD) RESULTED. THE ACFT WAS UNDER CTL THE ENTIRE TIME; THAT IS; AFTER THE WINDSHEAR ENCOUNTER. A PIREP WAS MADE TO THE ATC CTL TWR STATING 'A LOSS OF 20 KTS AT 50-100 FT.' SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 423583: ACFT WT WAS 152000 LBS; VREF 133. 'BUGGED' AIRSPD WAS 143 KTS; APCH SPD FLOWN WAS 153 KTS (FOR WINDS). CAPT AGGRESSIVELY ADVANCED THROTTLES; ROTATED TO ABOUT 15 DEGS NOSE UP. ACFT LNDG PRIOR TO RECOVERY TECHNIQUES TAKING EFFECT. ON POSTFLT INSPECTION; DISCOVERED TAILSKID AND AFT AIRSTAIRS DAMAGED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 423446: INITIATED STANDARD WINDSHEAR RECOVERY BUT CONTACTED RWY. CLOSED THROTTLES AND MADE NORMAL ROLLOUT. ON POSTFLT WALKAROUND FOUND WE HAD STRUCK TAILSKID.
