Narrative

DEPARTING CLT-ORD. FE PRINTED PDC ON ACARS. FLT PLAN WAS FILED CLT-NALEY-FIM...CLRED AS FILED TO ORD. FOR SOME REASON; 'HORNET 1 DEP' WAS 'BURIED' LOWER ON PDC INSTEAD OF ON FIRST LINE AS IS USUAL. BOTH MYSELF AND CAPT MISSED SID. I HAD THUMBED THROUGH MANUAL AND NOTICED NALEY WAS 70 DME ON 011 DEG RADIAL OF CLT VOR AND ASSUMED WE WOULD BE GIVEN A HDG UPON RECEIPT OF TKOF CLRNC TO INTERCEPT. WE WERE CLRED TKOF RWY 36L. I WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY NO HDG WAS GIVEN. INSTEAD OF TURNING TO A 330 DEG HDG AS INSTRUCTED ON THE SID; I JUST TURNED R IN ORDER TO INTERCEPT THE 011 DEG RADIAL WITH ABOUT A 30 DEG INTERCEPT. CLT TWR ASKED WHAT SID WE WERE FLYING AND WE RESPONDED THAT WE WERE GOING TO NALEY. THEY ISSUED A L TURNOUT AND GAVE PHONE NUMBER TO CALL ON ARR AT ORD. I HAD QUESTIONED THE LACK OF A HDG WITH TKOF CLRNC AND BOTH CAPT AND FE HAD NO COMMENT WHEN I SAID 'I GUESS WE'LL JUST INTERCEPT THE 011 DEG RADIAL TO NALEY.' IT WOULD HELP IF ALL PDC'S GAVE SID IN SAME ORDER (PREFERABLY TOP LINE) AS WE ARE ALL CREATURES OF HABIT. I SHOULD HAVE NOTICED SID ON PRINTED PDC ANYWAY AND SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED ATC WHEN I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF -- AS A SECOND LINE OF DEFENSE; INSTEAD OF JUST TURNING -- ESPECIALLY WITH THE PARALLEL RWY 36R POSSIBLY BEING ACTIVE. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL REMAIN WITH ME AND PREVENT ANOTHER OCCURRENCE LIKE THIS.
