Narrative
ON A FLT FROM 39N TO HPN AT 2000 FT AND 10 NM SE OF SBJ VOR; I CONTACTED NEW YORK APCH ON 128.55 AND ASKED FOR A CLASS B CLRNC TO HPN AT 2000 FT. MY RTE OF FLT AS I REQUESTED WOULD BE DIRECT THE VERAZANO BRIDGE AND CONTINUE N UP THE HUDSON AT 2000 FT TO HPN. THE CTLR REPLIED WITH A XPONDER CODE AND CLASS B CLRNC AS I REQUESTED. AT THIS TIME MY ALTERNATOR BUS LOAD WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE CTLR THEN CAME ON AND GAVE ME A HDOF TO NEW YORK ON 127.30. I CHKED IN WITH THE NEXT CTLR AND HE VERIFIED MY CLRNC. I PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN ALL MY ELECTRICAL EQUIP EXCEPT THE ONE RADIO AND XPONDER. THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED. ON THE PANEL LIGHTS STARTED TO DIM AND I SLOWED DOWN IN ORDER TO EXTEND THE LNDG GEAR WHILE I STILL HAD SOME PWR. AT THIS TIME I REALIZED THAT I MIGHT LOSE THE RADIO AND XPONDER ALSO. I THEN CALLED THE CTLR TO INFORM HIM OF MY ELECTRICAL PWR LOSS AND ASKED HIM TO CONTACT WHITE PLAINS TWR TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I NEEDED TO LAND. I HAD ALSO ASKED THE NEW YORK CTLR TO LET THE TWR KNOW THAT I WOULD BE COMING IN WITHOUT LIGHTS OR RADIOS. BEFORE I COULD RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM HIM I LOST ALL ELECTRICAL PWR. I MAINTAINED A CAREFUL OUTLOOK FOR OTHER PLANES AND IMMEDIATELY PROCEEDED TO DSND DOWN TO 1000 FT TO GO UNDER THE CLASS B AIRSPACE. I CONTINUED AT 1000 FT UP THE HUDSON AND INTO THE PATTERN AT HPN. NOT SEEING ANY OTHER PLANES IN THE PATTERN; I LANDED UNEVENTFULLY AND TAXIED TO MY TIEDOWN. THE FBO WAS CLOSED; SO I CALLED OPS FROM MY CELL PHONE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NOT HEARD FROM ZNY AND THEY THANKED ME FOR LETTING THEM KNOW ABOUT THE INCIDENT.
