FLT ATTENDANT RPT REGARDING AN FK100 WHICH HAD A HYD FAILURE SHORTLY AFTER TKOF. THEY RETURNED TO DEP ARPT.

Narrative

I WAS TALKING TO #3 FLT ATTENDANT AS WE BOTH SAT IN OUR JUMP SEATS FOR THE CLB OUT OF DFW; WHEN I HEARD SOMETHING AND FELT SOMETHING 'JUST NOT QUITE RIGHT' AS WE WERE CLBING. I OBSERVED THAT WE LEVELED OFF QUICKLY AND THEN 3 CHIMES SOUNDED. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE COCKPIT. THE CAPT EXPLAINED THAT WE HAD A HYDS PROB AND THAT ONE STILL WORKED; BUT THE OTHER HAD FAILED; WE ARE TURNING AROUND AND GOING BACK TO DFW; WE WILL BE LNDG IN 10 MINS. I ASKED IF WE SHOULD PREPARE THE CABIN FOR A PLANNED EMER AND HE SAID NO. I SAID; SO I DON'T NEED TO RETRIEVE TEST INFO FROM YOU. HE SAID; NO. I SAID OK. I MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT PREPARING THE CABIN FOR LNDG AND OUR RETURN TO DFW. WE LANDED SAFELY AND IMMEDIATELY THE BRAKES WERE SLAMMED ON. FIRE TRUCKS AND EMER VEHICLES SURROUNDED THE AIRPLANE. WE HAD TO BE TOWED IN BECAUSE WE HAD NO STEERING. THE CAPT TOLD ME LATER THAT WAS BECAUSE OF THE HYDS FAILURE. THERE WERE MANY REPRESENTATIVES MEETING THE FLT; BUT NOT ONE OF THEM INQUIRED ABOUT HOW WE FELT OR HOW WE WERE -- NOR DID ANY OF THEM SEEM CONCERNED. AT THE TIME; I FELT IT TO BE A BIG DEAL AND RATHER FRIGHTENING - - I SUPPOSE BECAUSE I KNEW THAT WE HAD NO STEERING; HYDS FAILURE; BRAKES SLAMMED ON. I GUESS I THOUGHT OF 'WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED.' HOWEVER; SINCE THE OCCURRENCE OF THIS; I TALKED TO THE CAPT AND HE EXPLAINED TO ME HOW IT WASN'T DANGEROUS IN ANY WAY; AND ALSO THERE WERE NO REPRESENTATIVES FROM FLT SVC TO MEET THE FLT; SO I SUPPOSE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL.
