Narrative
WE WERE AT FL240. ZID TOLD US TO DSND NOW TO FL230 AND CROSS TIGRR AT 11000 FT. THE FO SAID TO SET 11000 FT. I DID; AND I SAW HIM START A DSCNT. AT THIS POINT AND LATER; WE BOTH FORGOT ABOUT THE XING RESTR. ATA ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE TIGRR AT 11000 FT. WE WERE APPROX 8 MI TO GO AT FL210. I ANSWERED; 'I DON'T THINK SO.' WE GAVE A HIGH RATE OF DSCNT BUT WE MISSED XING AT 11000 FT. I SELECTED THE LOWER ALT AND SAW THE FO START HIS DSCNT. I SIMPLY FORGOT TO BACK HIM UP. NEXT TIME I'LL USE A PROMPT (DIM TUBES; ETC) TO REMIND US OF A RESTR. I'LL ALSO STAY FOCUSED ON WHAT THE OTHER FELLOW IS DOING. ONE THING I'VE STARTED DOING THE LAST FEW YRS IS TO START MY DSCNT FOR ANY XING RESTR AS SOON AS I GET IT -- NO MATTER WHAT MY RATE OF DSCNT NEEDS TO BE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 430959: FO STARTED A SLOW DSCNT. WE LATER STARTED TO READ THE DSCNT CHKLIST AND FORGOT ABOUT THE XING RESTR. CTR SAID HURRY DOWN. WE MISSED THE RESTR BY APPROX 2000 FT. COMPLACENCY AND NOT FLYING AIRPLANE FIRST WAS THE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR.
