FLT ATTENDANT RPT ON PAX MISCONDUCT REFUSAL TO STOW BAG ON MD80 ORD-DFW. AUTHS MET FLT.

Narrative

DURING BOARDING I NOTICED THE PAX IN ROW X OR ROW Y DID NOT HAVE HIS LUGGAGE STOWED PROPERLY. I TOLD HIM IT HAD TO BE STOWED FOR TKOF AND LNDG. HE BEGAN MOUTHING THAT HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. HE WAS ANNOYED AT MY SUGGESTION TO STOW IT. I WALKED AWAY TRUSTING THAT HE WOULD COMPLY. AFTER I FINISHED THE DEMO; I SAW HIS BAG IN THE SAME POS. IT WAS BLOCKING THE WOMAN BY THE WINDOW. AGAIN I TOLD HIM IT NEEDED TO BE STOWED; THAT WE CANNOT LEAVE WITH IT LIKE THAT. AT THIS MOMENT IT BECAME A STRESSFUL SIT BECAUSE THE CAPT MADE THE PA 'FLT ATTENDANTS PREPARE FOR TKOF.' THE MAN ARGUED WITH ME AND REFUSED TO COMPLY. I WENT TO THE COCKPIT; INFORMED THEM OF THE PROB. THE FO CAME BACK TO TALK TO THE MAN. BY THE TIME THE FO HAD GOTTEN THERE; HE HAD STOWED HIS BAG UNDERNEATH THE SEAT. I TOLD THE FO IT WASN'T LIKE THAT BEFORE. AS WE BOTH WALKED AWAY THE MAN BEGAN MOUTHING AGAIN THAT HE WASN'T BREAKING THE LAW. THE FO WENT BACK TO THE MAN AND MADE IT CLR THAT IF HE DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE ATTENDANT'S INSTRUCTIONS IT WAS A FEDERAL OFFENSE. UPON ARR INTO DFW; THE BAG WAS OUT AND NOT PROPERLY STOWED. I WAS CHKING THE AFT PART OF MAIN CABIN. FLT ATTENDANT #2 CAME TO THE MAN AND WENT THROUGH THE SAME PROC. THE MAN EVIDENTLY WAS NOT WILLING TO COMPLY. I SAW #2 FLT ATTENDANT OPENING BINS LOOKING FOR STORAGE FOR THE BAG. AT THIS POINT THE LNDG GEAR WAS COMING DOWN. FLT ATTENDANT #2 IS STILL TRYING TO TALK TO THE MAN AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW; I SEE HIS SUITCASE LAND AT FLT ATTENDANT #2'S FEET. IT HAD BEEN THROWN DOWN WITH FORCE. THE #3 FLT ATTENDANT OPENED THE CLOSET AND HELPED FLT ATTENDANT #2 PUT IT IN. THEN THEY BOTH SCRAMBLED FOR THEIR JUMP SEATS AS WE WERE ABOUT TO LAND. AFTER LNDG; I COULD SEE #2 FLT ATTENDANT WAS SHOOK UP. THE COCKPIT WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY HAD AUTHS MEET THE FLT.
