RPTR IS CONCERNED ABOUT ONGOING FREQ INTERFERENCE.

Narrative

FREQ AT ROCKDALE SECTOR; 124.12; ROUTINELY 'BUZZES' NOT ALLOWING XMISSION OR RECEPTION OF ATC CLRNCS. THIS 'BUZZING' LASTS FROM 3 SECONDS TO AS LONG AS 10 SECONDS. THE PROB HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS 'SNOW MOBILES;' BUT IT STILL DOESN'T WORK WHEN THERE IS NO SNOW ON THE GND. THIS FREQ IS UNSAFE FOR ATC USE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THIS SECTOR IS LOCATED AT ZBW. RPTR STATED THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED; EXCEPT THE TIME PERIOD OF THE 'BUZZING' INTERFERENCE HAS REDUCED. THE 'BUZZING' LASTS NOW FROM 1-2 SECONDS TO AS LONG AS 5 SECONDS. RPTR ALSO SAID THAT FLCS ARE HEARING THE INTERFERENCE TO A MUCH LESSER EXTENT. ZBW AIRWAYS FACILITIES PERSONNEL HAVE SAID THAT SINCE THE PROB IS AT THE RADIO SITE; AND IT'S LOCATED IN ROME; NY; THERE'S NOT MUCH THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT; OTHER THAN TO RPT IT. THE EASTERN REGION AIRWAYS FACILITIES HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE CARE OF IT. RPTR HAS HEARD THAT THE EASTERN REGION HAS GIVEN THIS PROB A LOW PRIORITY IN ADDRESSING IT. RPTR ALSO STATED THAT THIS FREQ INTERFERENCE USUALLY LASTS 5-6 MONTHS AND HAS BEEN A PROB FOR THE LAST 3-4 YRS. RPTR STATED THAT WHAT HE MEANT IN HIS RPT WHEN HE SAID; WHEN THERE'S NO SNOW ON THE GND THE INTERFERENCE IS THEN DIAGNOSED AS ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES; THE OPPOSITE OF SNOW MOBILES WHEN THERE'S SNOW.
