WAS USING A WAC CHART; SEEMINGLY LESS GEOGRAPHIC/TOPOGRAPHIC DETAIL THAN SECTIONAL. TOOK OFF FROM RWY 21; FLG; IN AFTERNOON. ALONE WITH YOUNG SON IN R SEAT. HIGH DENSITY ALT AFFECTED CLB PERFORMANCE. TURB AND WINDSHEAR ON DEP END OF RWY 21. CLBED ACCORDING TO NOISE ABATEMENT PROCS; RWY HEADING TO 400 FT AGL BEFORE TURNS. WITH DOWNDRAFTS; TOOK MORE THAN 1 MI TO GET ALT; BUT NEEDED A CLBING TURN TO AVOID TERRAIN AND EFFECTS OF WINDS AND WX ON NEAR TERRAIN. DOWNDRAFTS GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 500 FPM IN VICINITY OF ARPT AS SEEN ON VSI IN ACFT. TFC CALLED BY TWR (DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE RADAR). TWR: TFC (CESSNA?) AT 9 O'CLOCK POS; 1 MI; AT 9000 FT; OK.' ME: 'LOOKING...' SON BEGAN TO GET SICK; NEEDS HELP. IN MY EFFORTS TO FLY; NAV AND COMMUNICATE; MIGHT HAVE TOUCHED THE SMALL RESTR AREA SLIGHTLY N AND W OF FLG. EVENTUALLY CONTACTED ZAB FOR ADVISORIES TO SBP (HOME). CESSNA SAID TO BE 'FOLLOWING RIDGE LINE.' VOR SET TOO LATE FOR DETERMINATION OF SOUTHERN LIMITS OF RESTR AREA. 'COULD HAVE'S' OR LESSONS LEARNED: SET UP VORS IN ADVANCE OF VFR TKOF. MIGHT HAVE CLRED IN TFC PATTERN RATHER THAN ON COURSE. REQUEST MORE UPDATES ON TFC; EASILY 80% OF MY TIME WAS SPENT LOOKING FOR TFC; WITH 20% ON HELPING MY SON. CONTINUOUSLY LOOKING FOR TFC WHILE FLYING ACFT IS SOMETIMES NOT ENOUGH.
