Narrative
LOCATION: TPA. WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 36R VIA TXWY J; HOLD SHORT OF RWY 9. I READ IT BACK AND SOON WAS ABLE TO SEE A LONG LINE OF ACFT WAITING FOR THE WX TO CLR AT RWY 36R. I INCORRECTLY ASSUMED THEY WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 9/27 AND PROCEEDED WITH THE CHKLIST. WE WERE APCHING THE LINE OF ACFT AS THE CAPT ASKED IF WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS. ABOUT THE SAME TIME I REALIZED WE WERE JUST ACROSS RWY 9/27. OBVIOUSLY; I WAS NOT PAYING ENOUGH ATTN TO OUR POS. GND CTL AND TWR SAID NOTHING. WE WERE ON THE GND ABOUT ANOTHER 40 MINS BEFORE TAKING OFF. THIS WAS SOMETHING I THOUGHT I COULD NEVER DO -- BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. IN THE FUTURE; I AM DETERMINED TO ASCERTAIN MY LOCATION ON THE AIRFIELD MORE FREQUENTLY -- PARTICULARLY AT AN UNFAMILIAR ARPT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 439453: FO READ BACK CLRNC. NORMALLY; I LISTEN TO FO READBACK; THEN REPEAT IT MYSELF. DID NOT REPEAT IT THIS TIME. SAW LONG LINE OF NBOUND ACFT WAITING FOR WX TO CLR. IN A TWINKLING; MY CLRNC LIMIT BECAME THE TAIL OF THE LAST AIRPLANE -- FORGETTING THE HOLD SHORT. TURNING ONTO TXWY C; I WAS WELL ONTO RWY 9 BEFORE CONFIRMING WITH FO THAT WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS. AGAIN; SOMETHING I NORMALLY DO BUT FAILED TO DO THIS DAY. FO SAID NO; BUT I CHOSE TO CROSS INSTEAD OF STOPPING ON RWY. NEITHER GND NOR TWR SAID ANYTHING. SOLUTIONS: CONTINUE TO LISTEN AND REPEAT ALL TAXI AND HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS. CONFIRM ALL RWY XINGS WITH FO. STUDY ARPT DIAGRAM AND BE FAMILIAR WITH ALL RWY LOCATIONS.
