Synopsis

A BEECH BE1900 FLC OPERATED A FLT WITH THE ZERO FUEL WT 1 UNIT OUT OF LIMIT FROM RDG.

Narrative

I WAS PERFORMING A WT AND BAL CALCULATION FOR A REVENUE FLT ON THE LOAD MANIFEST FORM. I DISCUSSED SEVERAL CHANGES OF LOADING WITH THE RAMPERS. CARGO HAD TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT TO BRING THE ACFT UNDER MAX GROSS WT AND TO KEEP FROM EXCEEDING THE MAX WT FOR THE CARGO HOLD (5 OR 6 COMPANY TIRES HAD BEEN PLACED THERE IN ADDITION TO BAGS). IN RECALCULATING A NEW WT AND BAL; WE WERE GOING PAST OUR DEP TIME. THE NEW WT AND BAL WAS UNDER MAX TKOF WT AND UNDER MAX ZERO FUEL WT. THE CTR OF GRAVITY WAS ALSO WITHIN THE ENVELOPE. WE THEN DEPARTED FOR THE FLT. ENRTE; I WAS LOOKING AT THE LOAD MANIFEST IN ORDER TO CALCULATE LNDG PERFORMANCE; AND I HAPPENED TO NOTICE THAT I HAD FORGOTTEN TO CHK THE ZERO FUEL WT CTR OF GRAVITY LIKE I USUALLY INDICATE. IN CHKING THE ZERO FUEL WT INDICES; THE CTR OF GRAVITY WAS APPROX 1 UNIT OUT OF THE ENVELOPE. THE PLANE HANDLED NORMALLY THROUGHOUT THE FLT. I BELIEVE SEVERAL FACTORS FOR THIS OCCURRENCE WERE MY FIXATING ON THE GROSS TKOF WT AND CTR OF GRAVITY LIMITS AFTER NUMEROUS CHANGES; AND HASTE RESULTING FROM MINIMIZING DEP DELAYS. NEXT TIME THAT I FEEL THAT I AM BECOMING RUSHED; I WILL MAKE A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO SLOW DOWN AND RECHK. EVEN THOUGH THIS TASK IS NOT THE FO'S RESPONSIBILITY; I WILL ALSO LET HIM CHK MY WORK IN THIS SIT AS A BACKUP.
