Narrative
WE WERE DELAYED 2 1/2 HRS AT YYZ DUE TO WX AROUND ORD AND NY AND ZLE. SATURATION. ON APCH INTO ORD; MY NEW COPLT WAS DOING A GOOD JOB HANDLING THE GUSTS ON THE APCH; AND I SET THE 40 DEG FLAPS AND GEAR DOWN AS REQUESTED DURING THE APCH. ON LNDG; WHEN I AM PNF; AFTER I GIVE THE 1000 FT CALLOUT AND SCAN THE AIRSPD A LAST TIME; AS I LOOK OUTSIDE; I MOVE MY HAND SO THE BACK OF MY HAND IS TOUCHING THE FRONT OF THE SPOILERS SO THAT I CAN FEEL THEM DEPLOY. ON THIS LNDG THEY DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY DEPLOY; SO I EXTENDED THEM MANUALLY WITH A FEW SECONDS OF TOUCHDOWN. IT WAS AFTER CLRING THE RWY THAT I NOTICED I HAD NOT DONE 4 ITEMS ON THE MECHANICAL CHKLIST: GEAR; FLAPS; SPOILERS; AND ANNUNCIATOR LIGHTS. SO AFTER PARKING THE PLANE AT GATE I DECIDED THAT I WOULD NOT BE ALERT ENOUGH FOR AN APCH INTO SAN DIEGO 5 HRS LATER. I TRIED CALLING CREW TRACKING BUT THE LINE WAS BUSY. GOT THROUGH ON A CREW SCHEDULE LINE AND EXPLAINED MY SIT. THE TRACKER WAS UNDERSTANDABLY NOT HAPPY; 'WHAT DID YOU SAY TOOK TOO LONG?' 'THE TORONTO TURN; I'M TOO TIRED TO DO AN APCH 5 HRS FROM NOW.' 'THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF THAT HAPPENING RECENTLY.' 'YES; THE WX HAS BEEN DIFFERENT.' 'OF COURSE; IT MUST BE THE WX -- WE'LL JUST HAVE TO LEAVE THE PEOPLE THERE.' I DIDN'T RESPOND TO THAT.
