A C402 WAS OPERATED IN NON COMPLIANCE FOR 2 DAYS WITH OPEN LOG ITEMS ON THE R ENG AND THE CABIN DOOR UNANSWERED.
Narrative
JUL/XA/99: WHILE TAXIING TO PARK ACFT FOR THE EVENING; COPLT POINTED OUT THAT THE R OIL TEMP GAUGE HAD SOME SPORADIC FLUCTUATIONS. AFTER A BRIEF DISCUSSION; WE DECIDED TO MAKE NOTE OF THIS IN THE ACFT MAINT LOG. ALSO NOTED WAS THAT DOOR WAS A LITTLE STICKY DUE TO WX STRIPPING; THE HOBBS METER APPEARED A LITTLE SLOW AND THE SPINNING DISK USED TO SYNCHRONIZE ENGS WAS SPINNING SLOWER THAN USUAL. THE OIL TEMP FLUCTUATIONS WERE TEMPORARY AND REMAINED WITHIN THE GREEN AND I DID NOT FEEL THE NEED TO GND THE ACFT. THE COMBINED ITEMS ENTERED IN THE ACFT LOG SEEMED MINOR; BUT I FELT MAINT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF THE ITEMS. JUL/XB/99: AFTER NOTICING NO FURTHER ABNORMALITIES WITH OIL TEMP; I BELIEVED PREVIOUS FLUCTUATIONS TO BE ISOLATED AND DECIDED ACFT TO BE AIRWORTHY AND THAT MAINT WOULD BE ADVISED JUL/XB/99. I FLEW SEVERAL LEGS SUNDAY AND NOTICED NO FURTHER SUCH OIL TEMP FLUCTUATIONS. JUL/XC/99 AFTER FLYING SEVERAL LEGS; WHILE ON A LAYOVER IN HNL; I DISCUSSED THE SIT WITH ANOTHER CAPT OF OUR AIRLINE WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTRY I MADE ON JUL/XA/99 RENDERED THE ACFT UNAIRWORTHY UNTIL MAINT COULD INVESTIGATE AND FIX THE PROB. I CONTACTED MAINT AND THEY DECIDED TO GND THE ACFT IN HNL. JUL/XD/99 I WAS CALLED INTO OFFICE AND TERMINATED.
