GA PLT LANDS AT OFF ARPT LOCATION AND DAMAGED ACFT.

Narrative

ON AUG/XA/99; I WAS ENRTE TO A PVT AIRSTRIP IN LONG CREEK; OR; LOCATED APPROX 27 NM FROM THE KIMBERLY VOR ON THE 055 DEG RADIAL. I CANCELED MY IFR FLT PLAN OVER THE VOR AND BEGAN A DSCNT FROM 9500 FT (VFR ON TOP). AS I PROCEEDED TOWARD LONG CREEK; I SPOTTED WHAT APPEARED TO BE THE AIRSTRIP. ITS POS WAS LOCATED APPROX WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE MAP WITH RESPECT TO A BEND IN THE HWY. I CONTINUED MY DSCNT AFTER LOOKING AROUND THE AREA AND FIXATED ON THIS STRIP. I PROCEEDED WITH THE APCH AND LANDED TO THE E. UPON TOUCHDOWN; I BEGAN BRAKING AND NOTICED HOW NARROW THE SPACE BTWN THE BORDERING FENCES WAS. AS I CONTINUED TO DECELERATE; MY R MAIN GEAR ROLLED OVER THE CROWN OF THE STRIP AND PULLED ME TO THE R. I FELT THE R WINGTIP CONTACT THE FENCE AND KNEW THAT I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CTL. I PULLED THE MIXTURE CTLS AND TURNED OFF THE FUEL PUMPS. THE ACFT CONTINUED ON ABOUT A 20-30 DEG COURSE TO THE R OF WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE THE RWY. WHEN THE ACFT CAME TO A STOP; I RELEASED MY GRANDSON'S AND MY SHOULDER HARNESSES; OPENED THE DOOR; HAD MY GRANDSON EXIT THE ACFT; TURNED OFF THE MASTER SWITCH; AND EXIT THE ACFT MYSELF. ASSESSING THAT WE WERE BOTH UNINJURED; WE WALKED TO THE NEAREST FARMHOUSE WHERE WE RECEIVED ASSISTANCE. THE PROPERTY OWNER STATED THAT OTHER ACFT HAVE LANDED AT THIS LOCATION; BUT THAT THIS WAS NOT THE AIRSTRIP INDICATED ON THE MAP.
