PART 135 SINGLE PLT CARGO LANDS RIC WITHOUT LNDG CLRNC. C402C.

Narrative

WHILE ON A SINGLE PLT; PART 135 CARGO FLT; I LANDED AT RICHMOND; VA (RIC); WITHOUT A LNDG CLRNC. VISIBILITY WAS DOWN TO 4-5 MI DUE TO HAZE SO I FLEW THE ILS TO RWY 2. THE APCH AND LNDG WERE UNEVENTFUL. WHILE ROLLING OUT I GLANCED AT THE RADIO TO MAKE SURE THAT THE GND CTL FREQ WAS SET IN THE STANDBY SIDE AND REALIZED THAT I WAS STILL ON APCH CTL FREQ. I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED TO TWR FREQ AND WAS ADVISED TO 'MAKE THE NEXT L TURN AND CONTACT GND CTL; POINT NINER.' NEITHER THE TWR NOR THE GND CTLR MADE ANY MENTION OF THE INCIDENT. LATER; I CONTACTED THE TWR VIA LANDLINE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NO PROB. THE TWR CTLR HAD CLRED ME TO LAND 'IN THE BLIND' AS WELL AS VIA THE LIGHT GUN. I DON'T KNOW IF I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT TWR AND JUST DIDN'T HEAR IT OR IF THE APCH CTLR FORGOT TO HAND ME OFF. EITHER WAY; I SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT IT. MY MIND WAS PREOCCUPIED DURING THE ENTIRE APCH. I HAD RECEIVED THE NEWS (EARLIER THAT DAY) THAT A REGIONAL AIRLINE THAT I APPLIED TO HAD HIRED ME AND MY MIND WAS ON THAT. SINCE THE APCH WAS FLOWN IN VFR CONDITIONS AND THE FACT THAT IT WAS A SLOW DAY TFC WISE; I BECAME COMPLACENT AND HAD LET MY GUARD DOWN. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY SIMPLY PAYING ATTN TO THE EVENTS AT HAND AND NOT LETTING MY MIND WANDER.
