A JETSTREAM 41 FLC WAS INFORMED THAT A PAX WOULD NOT TAKE AN INFANT OUT OF A CARRIER AND WISHED TO HOLD INFANT CARRIER WITH THE BABY IN IT.

A JETSTREAM 41 FLC WAS INFORMED THAT A PAX WOULD NOT TAKE AN INFANT OUT OF A CARRIER AND WISHED TO HOLD INFANT CARRIER WITH THE BABY IN IT.
Narrative
ON OUR FIRST LEG OF A ROUND TRIP; OUR CABIN CREW MEMBER WAS COMPLETING IOE (INITIAL OPERATING EXPERIENCE). ON THE RETURN LEG HE WAS TO BE GIVEN A LINE CHK; COMPLETING HIS TRAINING. ON THE RETURN LEG; FLC TAXIED TO THE RWY AND WAS WAITING FOR CABIN CREW TO CALL; INFORMING US THAT CABIN WAS SECURED AND OK FOR TKOF. AFTER SEVERAL MINS OF WAITING; FLC DECIDED TO CALL CABIN CREW. WE THOUGHT MAYBE THEY HAD FORGOTTEN BEING THAT HE WAS GETTING A LINE CHK. THE CHK FLT ATTENDANT ANSWERED OUR CALL AND STATED THAT THEY HAD A PAX THAT WAS HOLDING AN INFANT IN AN INFANT CARRIER. (THIS CARRIER HAD GONE UNNOTICED UNTIL CABIN CREW WAS MAKING FINAL CHKS PRIOR TO TKOF.) SHE STATED THAT THE PAX WOULD NOT TAKE THE INFANT OUT OF THE CARRIER. CABIN CREW STATED THAT IF THE CAPT SAID IT WAS OK; THEN THE CABIN WAS SECURE AND READY FOR TKOF. CABIN CREW NEVER SAID THAT THE CARRIER WAS NOT APPROVED BY OUR FOM OR FARS. CRM WAS NON EXISTENT. FLC WAS UNAWARE OF EITHER FOM OR FARS THAT DISAPPROVED OF THIS TYPE OF CARRIER. CABIN CREW ALLOWED FLC TO TAKE OFF IN THIS SIT. WHEN CABIN CREW WAS AWARE THAT WE WERE GOING TO DEPART THEY STILL MADE NO ATTEMPT TO INFORM FLC OF FOM OR FAR REG. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR CREWS TO WORK TOGETHER TO SOLVE PROBS. I FELT AS IF A WALL WAS BTWN THE 2 CREWS AND WE COULD NOT SEE OVER IT TO MAKE ANY CLR DECISIONS.
