CONFLICT RPTED BY GA C150 WITH STUDENT AS INTRUDER PROCEEDS INTO AND THROUGH TFC PATTERN WITH NO RADIO CALLS OR REGARD FOR PROPER PROC AT 6D9.
Narrative
HAD TAXIED OUT TO RWY 8 FOR TKOF; PER PREVAILING EASTERLY WIND; AND OTHER TFC HAVING JUST CLRED RWY 8 AFTER LNDG. RADIO ANNOUNCEMENTS WERE MADE BY MY STUDENT DURING ALL TAXI AND TKOF PROCS. ONE OTHER UNICOM XMISSION WAS NOTED WHICH REFERRED TO ITSELF ONLY BY N-NUMBER AND LOCATION; N OF IOSCO COUNTY ARPT. NO IDENT OF ITS TYPE ACFT WAS MADE. AFTER VISUAL SCAN REVEALED NO OTHER TFC; WE PROCEEDED FOR A NORMAL TKOF. DURING CLBOUT; ALT 100 FT AGL; JUST OPPOSITE THE RAMP; MID-FIELD; WE SAW A HELI AT OUR 10 O'CLOCK POS; AT OUR ALT; ON A HDG OF APPROX 200 DEGS AT RANGE OF ABOUT 600 FT. IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE HELI WAS INTENDING TO APCH FOR A LNDG ON THE RAMP; XING THE ACTIVE RWY AT ALMOST 70 DEGS; AT VERY LOW ALT WITHOUT USING THE STANDARD ARPT TFC PATTERN. THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN A MIDAIR COLLISION. THE HELI COULD HAVE IDENTED HIMSELF AS SUCH; FLOWN AT A HIGHER ALT (RATHER THAN THE 50 FT ABOVE TREE-TOP LEVEL THAT MADE HIM INVISIBLE TO US); AND HE COULD HAVE FLOWN A STANDARD APCH PATTERN. THERE ARE SEVERAL NORDO AIRPLANES THAT OPERATE AT 6D9 AND WOULD HAVE HAD NO WARNING EITHER IN THIS SIT.
